OK guys so I'm at a garage ATM getting a nice new stainless cat back exhaust and I've asked about remapping. I've been told that their system can do it with gains in bhp of 12% and 13% gains in torque. Does this sound right? I think the 100 couldn't be remapped.

Lots of people say it can be re-mapped, no one has ever proved it yet or had it done.... draw your own conclusions.

By this do you mean that people have been told they can but no one has ever actually taken it to be remapped? Or that people have received false dyno results from remapping?

No one has actually re-mapped the standard ECU and there's no point anyway as its an N/A engine producing the right power for its 1.4 size.
If you change the cams, do some organic head work and change the exhaust manifold you might just squeeze another 15-20bhp out of it for well over a grand outlay.. its been discussed so many times but trying to up the power of the 100hp is missing the point of the car by a country mile... buy a 500 abarth instead if the panda isn't enough.

Oh it's by far enough. Especially with my lovely new exhaust. I was only interested as I had read so much about it not being possible to remap and then while I was in the garage they told me they could. Also I really do not like the look of the 500. Even the abarth.

theres a very reputable tuning company near me and he said theres no way it can be done without an aftermarket ECU.

with the VVT head he said you can put a vernier pulley on the exhaust side and play with the timing a bit to really wake it up but it would need an after market ECU to get the most from the setup

The 100hp doesn't have a VVT head and you can't use a Vernier pulley as the second cam is gear driven from the other one.

Gavv you seem to know what your talking about. So I shall ask you. Would changing the manifold to an aftermarket and fitting a high flow cat along with a free flowing exhaust system give any kind of power increase? I picked up my 100 sauce pretty cheaply so I have some monies left over to give it nice parts so if I would get any kind of power rise I would seriously consider taking it back to the exhaust people and getting them fitted.

You might gain a few horses by changing the manifold to a de-cat one but they are expensive and you'd have to live with the engine management light on all the time as its been proven that sport cat exhausts are no better than standard ones, it is entirely possible to gain 15-20bhp through 'organic' tuning but the cost far outweighs the gain, the 1.4 N/A F.I.R.E engine was designed to do a job and the T-Jet was designed to do the same job faster.
