Hi all, i have a 2007 active and want to connect my ipod to the stereo (its the big stereo that takes up the whole of the upper dash) Is it possible to connect an aux lead to this stereo? or will i have to get a new facia plate and fit a new cd player with an aux socket at the front?

thanks

I've an i-pod dock fitted to the back of mine which runs down into the glove box, so yes. I think it's a Dension although it's in nearly 11 years so the memory is fading somewhat.

I tried this on my '06 Dynamic but there wasn't the pins on the back of the stereo to receive the aux lead.
So was a failed venture.

I think I read somewhere (might even have been on the ebay listing) that you can tell the stereos suitable for this by cycling through the input options and seeing if 'AUX' comes up on the display...

Thanks Roger, I bought the fiat panda aux in lead from poland on ebay, at first i wasn't sure where to plug it in but then realised that the 3 coloured multiblock in the back of the radio comes apart! ............. take the yellow bit off the other two and click the new yellow block onto it on the end of the new lead and push the whole multi block back into the back of the radio. Just leave the original yellow socket just hanging at the back. I got a 3.5mm jack extension lead from ebay for a couple of quid and threaded the aux lead down behind the centre console to come out at the bottom near the cup holders.
pushed the CD button on my stereo to select AUX and plugged the lead into my i phone ............................................. and it works!!!!!!
I now have an MP3 compatible panda for around £12 .................. well happy!

Thanks again for your post for showing me what i needed to do

ps Neogeta did you unclip the original yellow block off your multiblock connector and attatch the new one to it? If your stereo shows AUX on the display .......... the lead will work. At first i thought there was nowhere for the lead to plug into before i realised that it replaces the original yellow part of the plug. If you get stuck then message me and ill take some pics to show you

I don't believe I did. But then I'm quite new to fiddling with car electrics/audio.
If you could take since pictures it would be awesome.

Would love to be able to stop taking cds out with me all the time!!

old 3 coloured plug, aux lead is on the left of the picture

unclip the yellow part of the multiblock plug

push the new AUX lead into the place where you removed the old yellow plug from

click it into place to form the new 3 coloured plug now with your AUX lead fitted. The old yellow part of the plug can just be left dangling

push the plug into the back of the stereo until it clicks into place

Done!

thread the lead down through the centre console ( i found buying a 1 metre 3.5mm jack extension made it much easier and gave you more wire to play with whilst threading it down through the centre console) It doesn't matter if you buy a 1 metre or 2 or 3 because any excess will just be cable tied or taped up

Thats all there is to it!

hi I have a fiat punto pop 2012 when I press CD I get a message "saying no source available" the actual head unit is black and has the mp3 liitle logo above the cd player. can I have a aux? if so what cable do I need? thanks

Sorry ashikmistry, i only know what i did to my model. I don't know anything about your model but i'm sure if you ask the question in the right part of the forum you'll get some answers, sorry i couldn't be any help

Just on this subject, would anyone be interested in a head unit with the correct pins for the aux lead, plus a power inverter and cabling for an older iPod to make look a little more factory?
