Hi all, I have a Fiat Panda 1.3 Dynamic Multijet, 08 reg. I've had my Panda for 10 weeks. A couple of weeks ago I was driving on a roundabout when suddenly the car cut out on me. I put my foot to the floor and there are no revs at all. On another day when I was out in the car it just lost power after turning a corner and started juddering. It took about 90 seconds for the power to come back. Today when I finished work I got in the car and started it up and it just cut out straight away. I tried to start it a few times but it just kept cutting out on me. This time it took about 20 minutes to get started because it didn't have any revs. My foot would be to the floor and nothing. My boss managed to get the car going for me by going round in circles in our work carpark to build the revs up. Any ideas on what this problem could be please? I have taken it back to the Dealership and they said they cannot find a problem with it!

When it cuts out do any lights show on the dashboard display?
If so, what symbol and colour?

This could be anything from a chafed wire to a dodgy connector plug to fuel starvation, but a few clues will help.

Hi Sweetsixteen. Nothing shows on the dashboard. No lights, symbols or colours of any description. When I took it to the Dealership on Wednesday they said they had done a diagnostic on the car and nothing came up. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. But now my car is parked outside my house and I can't use it because it doesn't Rev up even with my foot to the floor and it starts to overheat.

Sounds strange that your supplying dealer could not find anything wrong.
Ask them to check that the air filter is dry and not wet or damp. This is a common fault on the Panda diesel, where the centre screw just above the air filter box lets water drip onto the filter, and it would certainly cause rough running - poss with whitish exhaust smoke.
I don't think this is the reason in your case, but it's a worthwhile check and blocking off the screw is the recognised fix here.

The overheat bit is worrying, and this also could be due to several different things.

Hi,I take you purchased this car from the dealership & I take it's under a warranty if so ring them explain to them the symptoms again & you have already been in.
Don't drive it get them to collect it at their cost.
I'm thinking symptoms of blown head gasket.

If you've let the dealership try to fix it and they can't find nothing wrong then you can return the car as unfit for purpose and you'll be entitled to a full refund. If you want to go down this route then stop using the car and tell them in writing that you are rejecting the car and want a full refund.

If you want to keep the car it sounds to me as a fueling problem.

What levels are the vital fluids (coolant and oil)? It sounded a bit like fuel to me until you said that it was overheating with it.

It does seem a bit strange that the dealer could find nothing wrong with the car. They should be keeping the car and trying to get the fault to reoccur rather than just reading codes. I'd be wanting the dealer to do a bit more.

Took it back to the Dealership on Monday, its was the EGR Valve. Got my car back today :) hopefully everything will be OK now. This is my first car, only been driving for 3 months!

I sent them an email Sunday night, took it back Monday morning and they found and fixed the EGR Valve and cleaned it all.
