My wife had a mk1 panda initially, which she changed for a punto, she moved on to a seicento which she rolled, replacing it with a cinq which reached 117k before its engine went. I used to take micky out of the cinq but secretly i like the challenge of getting the most out of them (I personally have had eg a couple of 2.8 capris, a vr6 and an Elise but I still like wee Fiats).

Then after the cinq I found her a lovely 2nd gen panda, which we like so much we bought a 2nd panda to keep the miles off the first one. My first ever car was a Fiat 128 if anyone remembers what one of those was. Now I'm thinking of a 100hp.

Too many Fiats .... :)

You can never have too much of a good thing!

My Fiat life started early, one of my first car memories was my Dad coming home in a brand new 126 in 1975.

Since then, it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride of Uno's, Cinq's, Tipo's, Punto's and Panda's, which we've now 3 of, but might have to give up one of them as that new 124 Spider looks too good for me to miss out on. (and they better do in it black with red leather)
My mouth is already dribbling!

you've only just started...:D

we had a Mk1 panda, seats were awful,:bang: but it was VERY cheap / functional and the 903cc engine did 45MPG on that new Unleaded:cool:

loved our '86 Mk2 - "OSLO" , but times change and the Tipo's were a favourite.

currently have 3 x 2004-12 pandas on the drive,
and a GM:yuck:bodied Twinair:)

Wow, and I thought we were enthusiasts having a mere 2 Pandas!!

I had a look at the Spider, it looks lovely but I think with just a 1.4 turbo it's a girly car, so I've emailed Fiat asking if we can have a 200bph variant.

What do you think of the Twinair? I've been looking at 100hp's recently and wonder if I've missed the boat as most seem to be 80k miles plus now.

Some of us have 2 Pandas, one of which is a 2011 100hp with 21k.............

The 140bhp is reported to find it's way into the UK cars, with USA getting the 160bhp version.

There's talk of perhaps an Abarth version will appear at some point with the 1750 turbo from the 4C, albeit detuned a little from 238bhp.

The 140 will still out perform the NA 1.5 Mazda version (and won't be too far behind the 2.0) even with a little extra weight the Fiat will carry, but as with all little sports cars like these, it's not about outright power, but how they handle what they've got and as based on the MX5, you can be certain it'll please.

Perhaps it might be girly, so stick it in the Mrs's name and borrow it on Sundays!

I'm still relatively new to Fiat: back in 2005, when I was at the impressionable age of 15, my parents bought a used mk2 Punto in that lovely metallic orange, and having never previously thought much of Fiats, I found myself rather liking it. Just a few weeks after the mk2 was picked up, Top Gear magazine featured the 1st roadtest of the stunning Grande Punto: that was it, I was instantly converted to a Fiat fanatic. To this day, I still have that magazine, and I had intended to buy a Punto for my 1st car, I ended up with a 2001 Daewoo Matiz, (I now have a colossal fondness for those too!) so I could begin learning to drive. However, a 2004 Punto mk2b replaced that, and just under 2 years ago, a 2008 Grande Punto replaced the mk2b.

I can quite honestly say that I hope and intend to own nothing but Fiats for as long as I possibly can. :)

Ever since I found out about Abarth I've always wanted one, and a Abarth Spider would be awesome. I heard back from Fiat about my 200bhp suggestion, it was only a copy/paste response:

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Further to your enquiry, we must confirm that currently the only engine which has been confirmed for the Fiat 124 Spider is the 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine producing 140hp.

I can't fathom why we couldn't at least have th eoption of the 160bhp. Do you know how much it weighs?

I certainly agree with you it's not about all out power (after all I'm considering a 100hp!),

I have a slight issue getting one in that I used to have MR2s and I still would like a GT86, and I cannot see my wife with a Spider somehow, she does love her Panda.
