Hi guys my names Joe I’m 32 years old and from Stoke on Trent, but more importantly I know own my first 100hp. I’ve had different motors in the past like clio 182,civic type R, a few fast fords and more recently polo GT tdi but I thought I’d have a change, something different! I like it so far, rides a harsh but I knew that anyway, I spent 3 hours yesterday searching threads and im going for the koni STR.T on the rear first then go from there. Im just looking for the top 12mm spacer/bush that seems to be needed.

Any ideas?

Hi Joe.

Forces from the shock absorber are trasferred to the chassis via the two faces clamped together tightly by the bolt. The joint isn't designed to move. So there's no need for a spacer, once the bolt is done up properly it won't move (unless you hit a bad pothole or something).

I humbly suggest finally tightening the joints up with the rear axle at normal ride height so that the bushes are not permanently twisted when the car is on its wheels. The bottom joint can be done with the car on its wheels, for the top the easiest is probably a wheel off and a jack under the rear axle or a ramp maybe (haven't tried that).

Cheers,
Andy
