Hi there, I've spotted a sticker on my drivers window that is a warning for passers by along the lines of 'THIS VEHICLE IS FITTED WITH AN IMMOBILISER AND IS ALARMED' or something similar.

I understand the immobiliser as we've had a problem in the past with this that was repaired by Fiat and involved a new set of keys.

I'm wondering how the alarm works? Or if it works for that matter. Paranoid that Fiat disabled or removed it after the repair to the immobiliser?

It was my understanding that locking the car would arm the alarm and shaking it / tampering would set off a loud noise until the key was triggered again but no such function seems to work.

I can't understand what the sticker references by alarm if I've got this right?!

Thanks for anyone who can set me right on this! One of my many previous and many to come Panda questions!

It's a 2005 1.2 Dynamic for the record!

I'd say that any car that has a sticker saying "this car has an alarm" generally doesn't have..........

There's no standard alarm and the Canbus electrics make fitting one an awkward task for the DIY person.

Unless you definitely know it has one fitted, I wouldn't worry about it.

I doubt very much if you have an alarm. You could have got an alarm as an accessory but this had to be bought aftermarket and for those who self installed it, it wasn't an easy thing to fit.

Is that something people do / did to scare thieves away?!

Interesting the Panda never came with the option, I wonder why?
1. Yes - a common deterrent on houses and cars or Iraqi dictators

2. The immobiliser is enough for most Pandas to be un-nickable. The stereo is Panda-only fit and everyone ignores car alarms. Also, it's a Panda.....must thieves would go for something more expensive.
