General High mileage Pandas (at least 100K miles on the clock)

I think mine must be the highest 100hp if not the highest Panda still on the road.

She is still going strong and drives like a dream :)

Ooh impressive Elder ! Any general tips to keep it running smoothly for the high miles ?( Mostly motorway I'm guessing ?) How about wishbones and shocks ? I'm hoping ( NCT /MOT allowing ) to keep mine till 200k and then splash out on something nice BUT it can be addictive how much money you save on fuel .Diesel is a fair bit cheaper than petrol here in Rep of Ireland and I reck this little Multijet is like a machine that spits out £€50 notes in savings at least monthly if not fortnightly even compared with a one litre petrol .

Hi. 1.2 2008 dynamic currently on 105.5k
Apart from normal service items I've ha d the following changed at c 100k
Rear shock x 2 (worn bushes )
New suspension arm front near side

So far so good ?

Ps new front discs too at c 80 or 90k I think

My 1.2 4x4 climbing is at 102,000.

Doesn't feel any different to drive than the 18k mk3 I had earlier in the year.

Had rear discs and pads replaced and replacement steering column to rid it of the warning light though the steering never went heavy. I think it's cost me £500 in over a year of ownership which I don't think is bad for a 10year old car

It has the feel of a car that will last and last. Hopefully!

I have 2 panda multijets first one I bought 08 plate was 3 yrs old high milage 58000 on it now has 236000 runs like a dream but smokes a bit too much now had new clutch at 150k chain at 120k few other little thing never broke down

Other one bought this year 56k absolute nightmare of car runs awful now has 82k already had clutch as thrust bearing just shattered on m4 still got problems with this one hopefully will sort it out had service yesterday asked garage to check westgate n she drove home beautifully

Am hoping she will come good eventually

Think these cars need to be used on good runs not just short little journeys they just clog up

I thought Elder might win this one with his 200k 100HP but it looks like Pestelence might have it so far!

My 07 100HP has a paltry 107K now, by comparison.

Just checking into this forum as in the next few weeks I'll be clocking 100,000!

Taken two weeks ago, the photo I attached proves it!

At 99,680 -ish now.

Doing an oil filter change now at 100k to keep her running smoothly , then at 105k , 110k and I'd like to see another 100k?!

Glad to hear there's plenty of others well over 100k!

Sold our 2004 dynamic in 2011 when it hit 100k, no replacement parts other than tyres/brakes,not even the exhaust back box! replaced with 2007 100hp and then a 2008 eleganza. The 100hp clocked up 60K trouble free miles, the current Eleganza has proved the most "needy" of the three and only on 50k miles, needing suspension work, HT box to a pair of plugs, and a jammed drivers door window.......should have kept the 1st one!! Cheers John B

Impressive mileage there.

You'll soon be able to join the 100K club. :)

Sounds like the original was the best!
I'm also still on the original exhaust. I keep thinking it's bound to need replacement this year but not so far!

Mine too - 106k on original back box; the outer skin rusted and was removed but inner holding out. I agree that they seem to thrive on decent runs. I had an 04 low mileage eleganza, which had had a hard life up till when I got it... lots of seat and paint wear and tear and something funny about the steering, which I never go to the bottom of, but really spoiled the drive... . the engine and gear box was pretty tight at c 24/30k but did loosen up toward 50k.
bit of a dog really. Now gone.

Is it just me or do the miles seem to pile on quicker once you pass 100K? I've gone past 110K miles now.

Or is it just the strange anticipation of seeing the clock with 111,111 on it? Less than 1K miles to go!

MJ Sporting here on 133K

Had 2 sets of tyres - always Avon.
1 other thing done at a garage - track control arms at 94K.

Most things I do my self... here is the list excluding bulbs, Oil + air filter changes...

Gear oil + coolant + Fuel filter at 61K
Rear brake shoes at about 70K - the lining fell off a shoe
Drop links at around 71K
Front struts at 91K
Pads and discs at 94K
New drums, shoes, auto adjsters, handbrake cable 100K (should have done this at 70K)
Anti rols bar bush 103K
1 drop link 103K (bushes didn't need replacing was a drop link but fitted em anyway)
103K water Pump + new coolant
120K glow plugs - all 4 had died and took ages to start
Fuel filter 126K
130K fuel filter
130K Recon fuel pump _ pump to rail HP pipe

Think I'm due gear oil change again :)

(y) Get some fuel in

I did! It had only just come on. I always tank it and measure how far I get out of each tank. I have a certain expectation as to what mileage I should be at. Let's me see any problems arising. He's been running a bit cold recently and I had got a new radiator in a week and a half before so I had filled it afterwards to see if it improved things. It did but I think that I might change the thermostat as well as it's still not quite staying at the middle mark. It's almost there. He's showing his age a bit but a few parts should have him back to his old self. Hopefully.

I'm the same when it comes to filling the tank. I like to be around 500 miles on 30 ish litres - not often seen though.

Don't think a rad will improve fuel efficiency. The stat will if it's not holding in the middle all the time.

Think I said before my temp used to behave until the needle hit the middle from cold. only after it got to stat opening temp did the overcooling start as it stayed open a bit - resulting in the needle dropping back down - especially when going downhill with little or no throttle.

I think garages could easily miss this kind of stat fault as they may just check the stat stays closed until engine is warm (If stuck open all the time the rad top hose will start to warm up before the needle has reached half way)

It's harder to spot if it passes this check, then the temp drops again. Can’t remember if it cooled off or stayed warm when car not moving.
