General Bolts for steel wheels

Shaved them at the pin locations and polished them, they have come up nicely even if I say so :D

Neat job - boy they look good and shiny.

Get the wheels on already!

Thanks man, your idea was great, glad I didn't leave them black now!

Getting there, will wash the car and seal the wheels with Gtechniq and fit them tomorrow.

The surprise was that the steelies/Michelin PS3 combo (50 profile) weighs the same as the alloys/Uniroyal RS3 combo (45 profile) so no increase in unsprung weight!

I took the car out for a 50 mile test drive and the initial impressions are:

- lost some immediacy and feedback in the steering due to the higher profile
- the car is not bouncy anymore and at last this combination with the Konis seems to work well, previously it was crashing, bouncing skiting or floating, now it seems well damped and flows in the road.
- before it was easy to drive the car at 10/10 on roundabouts due to the better steering feel and no flex on the sidewalls, it has the same grip now but I need to get used to it.
- braking feels better although that could partially be due to cleaning the brakes.

Just the 100HP sticker to remove now and it will be a proper sleeper

Now those to me look spectacular. A mixture of retro understatement and chic. Probably suit the red more than anything else - classic Alfa looks.

Tyres-wise - the difference may be just the newness. When I put the new tyres on they felt lighter/odder til they'd settled in.

Very nice job. I might be tempted at £40 a corner now.
