Hi Guys & Gals,

So I have put a deposit down on a 59 plate Panda 100hp , It drove great around the country roads etc - but then I took it down the bypass. At around 60mph I noticed a vibrating through the steering wheel, I said this to the salesman and he says it would just be tracking and balancing and they would sort it no problem.
However they have tracked and balanced all the wheels and there is still a slight vibration. They then replaced both wishbones as they said there was a bit of play in one of them - But again there is still a slight vibration.
I asked are they sure its not a buckled alloy - and they said that would show up on the tracking and balancing.
I really like the car but obviously I have said I don't want to purchase until it is spot on (which everything else about it is)
I thought I would ask you guys and see if you could advise what it may be?
Thanks in advance :)

It's not the tracking, it's the wheel balance normally as you predicted. If they have balanced the wheels you'd see the fresh Zinc weights on the inside of the rims. If there's lots of weight (specially in one place that suggests a buckle). The rims do that rather easily with the 195/45 tyres which is why some of us upgrade to 195/50.

Thanks for the replies :)

I have phoned them again and they have already sent the wheels off to a specialists to be checked :)
Hopefully if they find a fault they will fix it and get them back to the dealer so I can finally get my panda. Getting a little bored of driving my mums 1.2 lol

i had this with mine and it was the back tyre that was out, went mis shaped.

it could be loads of different things though

If it is warped discs you can usually tell:
If the vibration gets worse through the steering wheel when you brake firmly, it will be the front discs. If the vibration gets worse through the driving seat, it will be the back discs.
If it doesn't change when you brake it will not be the discs.

Thought I would let you all know that it was a buckled alloy :) I did tell them this lol but all fixed now - car is purchased and love it :D

how much was the repair if you dont mind me aking, i think one of my front ones is buckled?

When mine buckled I paid £80 per wheel, which was the cheapest I could get. One man bloke in Derbyshire. Very popular with all of the trade.

thanks for that :)

who in derbyshire did it? i live in derbyshire my self

I forget his name and to be honest he NEVER answers his phone. He's a welder primarily but all the wheel/type people in Chesterfield seem to go to him.
