A few past debates on this. The Dynamic has reached 9000 miles now and the weedy 165 tyres on the front are showing some wear on the inner edge as usual.

Needless to say, it'll be getting Uniroyal Rainsports like the 100hp has.

However, I prefer a fatter tyre and I'm pondering 185/60-14. The rolling circumferences is within 1.5% and I believe there's enough clearance on the inside for the extra 10mm of rubber.

Has anyone taken the plunge before? The 1.2 500 has chubbier tyres as standard I think.

I took the 13" steel skinnies off my 1.3 Multi when I got it last year (which I still have, with good standard tyres if anyone wants the set for a pittance) and fitted 14" wheels. I now run 175/65 x 14's, with another set of same size wheels/tyres for winter. No clearance problems on these, and virtually the same rolling diameter. Both sets of wheels/tyres were originally Punto.

I think I have lost a small amount of economy in doing so, but the ride is better and the road-roar is less, so I am a happy bunny.

Cheers - I believe 185 is the max width for a 5 inch wheel.

185/60 is pretty much the same depth of tread (i.e. 60% of 185mm being a a few mil taller than 65% of 165mm). 185/60 more common/cheaper.......

At the rate this little Panda uses tyres, we'll all be on hoverboards before I ever need a new set!

The rim width will be moulded into the casting, the original Panda alloys are 5", Punto wheels may be wider. Wear on the inside of the front wheels could be caused by toe out. I have a laser alignment tool and set mine to toe in about 10 minutes of arc.

Yep - standard Panda 14 alloys at 5 inch width. I make that a max tyre width of 185mm. I was curious to see if anyone had tried and got any rubbing.

And yes - wheel alignment will follow. They always end up toe-out. All those bumps, which you can go over at 30mph on the 1.2 and 10mph in the 1000hp.

Is that one Hundred MPH in the one Thousand HP..??;)

we've had 185/60 14's on our '04 1.1 active,
helped make it feel a LOT more "planted"(y)

standard FIAT punto alloys ( from a JTD) with cheap M+S tyres

just a little "Magic and Sparkle":D

Thanks - one gets used to the 100hp stickiness and when driving the 1.2 I'd like a little extra grip.
