Latest update the number plates the rear number plate was pretty badly faded so replaced that and i've gone for a square plate on the front.

so I managed to pick up a bonnet pretty cheap. I had loads of ideas running through my head, this is what i went with an the process.

1. 1 new bonnet

2. strip the paint

3. cover it in hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and salt.

The pics show the effect after 5 mins, 1 hour and 24 hours

4. then i cleaned it off.

5. lay down a piece of net curtain.

6. spray with the italian colours.

7. finish with a couple of layers of clear lacquer.

let me know what you guys think, i know its not to everyones taste, but its me and its different.

I think the effect is excellent, though the net curtain bit might have been too flowery. Is it right for this car? Not sure. If you like it that's all that matters.

If you did it to an older car it'd look pretty decent - like a faded Dubonnet sign painted on the side of a Provencal house. Nothing worse than a shiny, restored vehicle.

So - in terms of effect and patina, great job.

thanks for the feedback.

The flowery effect has faded a little more now so its not so in your face. i'm gonna get some more lacquer on it as its starting to peel a little bit.
