Styling Roof bars/Rails.

I've seen a couple of sets come up for sale over the past year or so. They tend to be around the £100 mark.

I'd say you're best option would be in a local/independent scrap yard. You might drop on and get them reasonably cheap too (y)

The white Alessi ones were around the £50 mark last year on ebay.

I think the full retail for Alessi ones was around the £1000 mark. Silly, as they were standard, and not normally a wearable part. If they get damaged in a collision, unlikely the car would be repaired, so any stock has a limited market. Haggle?

£100 is on a par with aftermarket bars for some vehicles.

Will these alessi bars fit a 59 plate panda? And do i need these bars? Or can you put a thule pack on without the fiat roof rails. Just need something so I can use my roof box.

You need some kind of bars (either crossbars or longitudinal) for the Thule feet to fit to.

The Alessi ones perform the same function as the black ones. They're exactly the same size. They're just a different colour.

Hi oldhammer

I've got an original set from a 54 4x4 you can have for £100. Will be passing Manchesterish some time in June so could maybe deliver too or meet you somewhere. PM me if you're interested.

Well decided to take the plunge on the alessi bars cost £100'but a major advantage for me is there white in colour and my panda is white so no painting required. Just got to wait for them to arrive now.

If I could hijack the thread a bit - could any kind soul tell me the gap between the Thule fittings one they're on the rails ie. What's the actual usable width of roof bar? Reason being I've got hold of a Thule roof rack but don't want to buy the feet and discover it's too wide to fit on. Thanks!

I have a Thule Ranger folding box and Thule feet and crossbars which works fine on the rails. It hasn't had much use though since we got the Honda.

Thanks Wee Smurf. I'll measure the rack and see how it compares to a Ranger

Hi chamonix, I have an 08 jtd and a Thule ranger. Unfortunately mine came without side rails and I purchased the cross rails rather than the side ones. Ironically the ranger sits fine left to right, but the gap is to great front to back with the fixed cross roof rails :0 ! You should be fine with the side rails and adjustable cross rails, fits fine left to right.

Never thought my panda would be to big for a Thule ranger... :)

Thanks agavins. I used to use a friend's Thule roof box on mine and had the same problem; it went on but only just and with a fair bit of swearing.

Turns out the roof rack I've been given is a monster at 953mm across so it's narrower than the gap between the rails but not by much. At the back there's only about 40mm gap so think I'll have to go have a sneaky measure of someone else's set up before I take the plunge...

Hi all ,

(they look odd withought em, :(

anyone know where i can buy some,

Oldhammer,
Are you still looking for a set of roofbars (front to back)
I am thinking of taking them off the wife's Panda, would seriously consider it, for the right price?
Would you be interested?
PM me if so.
Thanks
