Hi all Iposted this in audio section but maybe I should have come here first !!

I've seen a few postings with similar problems and I was wondering if anyone has found a solution

Fiat Panda 2010 Blaupunkt integrated radio with very poor - actually non existent MW. FM and CD perfect

I've had radio out, checked all connections - even changed radio to one i can confirm works and still same problem - FM good cd good but no MW.

I've checked for a solid earth and all seems ok

Anybody found a solution to this ??

Listening to the Cricket? (y)

It sounds like you've tried everything apart from a different aerial. maybe take a wire brush to threads on the antenna connection on roof although I would try another antenna, they are the same on a lot of cars. I think FM is a lot easier to get with an otherwise defective antenna

cheers
will give it a go and let you all know how i get on

Hi,
Most MW radios have an antenna trimmer. This is a small adjuster that you turn for best MW reception. It does not affect FM Normally it's accessed through a small hole on the rear panel, but sumetimes on the front or side. It's quite fragile so don't force it. Start with the radio tuned to a stion you can just hear and adjust for maximum signal, changing to a weaker station if you don't find a peak.
If you can't find it, post photos of all 6 sides and I'll see if I can spot it.

Cheers G8 i will go take photos and upload - however ..before I do ...I did attach a different radio and no MW through that??
Shall I still post pics
Thanks for your help

Hi,
Each radio/antenna combination needs to be adjusted individually if the adjustment is present. Did you check the other radio in another car for MW reception? The only other possibility is if the antenna has an amplifier. This is unusual but there would be two circuits, one for VHF (FM) and one for MW. You can rule out the antenna by connecting a length (2 to 6 ft) of insulated wire to the centre contact of the antenna socket. Strip the end going to the contact of course.
