You know on spinal tap where the volume goes up to 11....... like that... :D

Indeed, but Nigel Tufnell doesn't ALWAYS have the Marshall amp at 11, he has it at 10...........and turns it up to 11 when he needs that extra push over the cliff.

Thus, my philosophy (and 3-pickup black Les Paul) more closely follows the 'Tap ethic of using it as a treat rather than as default.

On the subject of ballerina's, I have driven the 100hp in my Ash-soled clogs before, though never on Sport mode. I think that's a challenge for someone in rush-hour traffic

Maybe it's a fault with your car? The throttle isn't analogue on my car. It's not ultra sensitive either, if it was I wouldn't be able to return above average mpg.

The suspension and chassis is firm but not that firm.

I don't use ballet shoes, only trainers, approach shoes, walking boots or office shoes.

Anyone would think most of you have never driven anything vaguely sporty before.

Maybe it's I have better car control than you?

It seems like a matter of preference.

I like the sharp throttle response when I first put Sport mode on for the first few minutes but find the lack of response at the "mid to end" of the pedal's travel annoying.

Coming from a circa 330bhp Forester STi, 205 GTis etc. the Panda is the least sporty of them but is good fun nonetheless.

The willingness of the engine to rev to 7k, good handling and cheap to run being its main advantages.

I had the same complaint in the Forester, when I bought the car the previous mapper adjusted the DBW to have full throttle on ~40% of its travel or so which meant that if you pressed the throttle past that point nothing would happen. Also you had to be very careful with the throttle especially if you were tired as a miniscule movement of it would put the car on boost unecessarily.

I had it remapped to be linear and that was one of the best modifications made.

Mine passed with flying colours but the tester commented when handing me back the keys that it feels jerky (and that was taking it into/out of the garage from the car park) and this was with the Konis fitted!

Sorry but couldn't resist - did he have sport mode on?:)

I bought my fiat as I use the country roads to get me most of the way to work, missing the congested A roads. These roads are one and a half car widths and can have visibility for up to one km, but they are quite choppy in places and my car is on lowered bilsteins. The fiat is perfect for these, the cars size and wheelbase makes it pointy and precise, so like the karting comparison, you have to pick your lines, not scrub speed and flow carrying as much speed as possible giving as minimum inputs as possible and ultimately when you get air, the sports mode is a pain in the ass.

Maybe if I used my car on smooth A roads my opinion would differ, but I have another car for those.

Looking good lowered, in the fastest colour too.
French roads though are x10 times smoother than british B ones so I wouldn't expect the lack of suspension travel to be a huge problem.
I loved driving my 205 GTi on the N85 Route Napoleon when I lived in France for a while. Where abouts in France are you?

30 minutes outside lyon. Yes the French are pretty good at keeping the main roads good and sometimes they resurface them overnight and you are driving on them the next day, but no road markings. The country roads though are abused by tractors and farm traffic. Route de Napoleon hopefully this year.

Picked up my Panda today. The suspension over speed bumps, bloody hell! I know go a steady 10mph in any area with speed humps .

Apart from that, pretty good soundsystem, amazing handling, gearbox is great when warm and it's surprisingly good at high speed cruising.

One thing to ask. The clutch bites about 3/4 away from fully depresse . Is this normal or am I looking at a new clutch soon! I did boot it in gear and there was no slipping so I'm guessing its okay but not sure.

Uh o . Triangle with an exclamation mark came up on the dashboard

Its a hydraulic clutch on the 100hp so the biting point is quite high.... have you broken it already???
