Hi,

Whilst i'm not 100% sure i'm doing the right thing, i feel the time has come to sell my 100hp. I just fancy a change & have a chance to buy a 3 series at a good price in the coming weeks which has got me considering my options.

What i'm trying to ascertain is how much should i ask for it & where is the best place to sell? the pricing on ads on Autotrader seem to be quite inconsistent.

It is a 2008 (58) in White with 38k on the clock. has full service history with receipts inc Cambelt change last year.

I've only ever traded in old bangers before so don't have any experience of selling privately so any advice gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

I know this isn't an exact price, but run your cars details through WBAC etc and see what prices they come up with. Add a fair amount onto the average of their prices and see how much interest you get from buyers. After all, you can always change the price up/down depending on how much interest you get. Too much interest suggests the price is too low, no interest suggests the price is too high.

That's what I'd do anyway, no idea if it's the "right" way to go about it.

As you will see it's the same year/same mileage as yours but from a dealer with dealer facilities - guarantees/credit options/pay by cards etc etc so I would suggest an asking price of around £3500 and gauge what interest that generates.

Just remember that no matter how much you love it, it's still a 7 yr old car.

Good luck

Dave

Prices vary massively. i keep my eye on all the usual sites to keep up to date with the prices. But also links closely to condition and history.

Regardless of it being a hoped up Panda it is a specialist car. People who buy 100hp usually know what they are about and want one.

You can overprice your car and underprice a car when selling but just because no one is calling straight away doesn't mean either. it maybe just a person wanting one is not prepared to travel.

but yours being white should make it a little easier to sell. IMHO White and Grey are possibly the easier colours to shift with white having the edge as its more fashionable right now and it suits the car. Although i have a grey one.

all the best with the sale

Parkers are saying £2640 for a private sale, £2240 trade-in, but that's with 70,000 miles.

If it's in tip-top condition, I'd put it somewhere between £3000 & £3500 if sold privately. As has been said already, although a good 100HP is desirable and getting hard to find now, it's still a seven year old car and IMO you need to be realistic. Personally I'd agree with thebiglad - advertise it at £3500 & see what interest you get.

One thing is they seem to be well firmed up on a couple of years back!

I think you'll do very well to get £3000 cash for it, a lot of the dealer prices are inflated because they know it'll sit around for ages waiting for the customer who is looking for that specific car.
100hp's are almost always bought by people who are just looking for a 100hp.

Would have been perfect a few years ago as I lived in Bath... I'm in Surrey again now though.

If you do put it up for sale, I'll certainly keep it in mind.

Hey man,

I sent you a pm ref the Panda because I'm in Bristol and looking for one.

Cheers

Webuyanycar offered £4900 for mine. Started at £4250 and keeps going up in value.. :)
