OK, I have read the previous post, but just to check...

Engine cold, take of expansion tank cap, jack car up remove plastic engine cover (on the bottom). The bottom radiator hose will have a plastic clip holding the pipe to the rad, squeeze the two tabs together (is this like the air intake pipe kind of clip?). Catch the liquid in an oil drain can - (6 litres?).

??? put the hose pipe in the expansion tank and run until the water is clear????

Premix the paraflu up 50% paraflu with 50% demineralised water??

Reattach the pipe and refill expansion tank slowly, squeezing as many rubber pipes as I can get my hands on until expansion tank shows to the full mark. Replace cap and start the engine. Leave to idle for a few minutes watching the level - what if the level goes below min - do I stop the car, remove the cap and fill up to the limit again???? idle with light revs until the fan kicks in. Leave to cool then refill.

Any confirmation, changes???

Yep, did exactly the same a few weeks ago. My only point would be that 'squeezing the clip together' wasn't quite as simple as it sounds.........
...best not to lie directly underneath while you struggle with it.
Don't ask me how I know this......:yuck:

Cover off and I am greeted with this... Doesn't look like you can squeeze it, and what I thought was a jubilee clip doesn't have a screw to loosen... Help?

You squeeze the little metal clip inwards that visible in your pic. There should be one the other side also. Press both in together and with some yanking (and swearing) it should come off (y)

So the clip is fairly hard to get back correctly. Once lined up with the pin, I attacked it blind from the front reaching in. It seemed to seat correctly, being able to squeeze the clips again. I then refilled to full and started, put the heater to full, it was on mid and let it tick over, squeezing a couple of pipes. I was down to minimum but the car seemed too warm to undo and top up. Anyway it didn't go much lower. I then started gently revving the car. Once the fan kicked in it lost another 10mm, I let the fan stop and turned it off. I will check around in the morning, top up and put the engine cover underneath back on. So first time novice - 3 hours... Thanks for your help.

I've thought about flushing it with hosepipe myself but surely, you get left with pure water in the system and quite a bit of it. When you add your 50/50 mix its going to be off, and not distilled water either.

Surely the best thing to flush with is 50/50 mix, although wasteful. Otherwise you could up the paraflu mix to compensate but it still wont be distilled water.

I maybe completely wrong and id be interested in what others think as ive always been too worried about the above to do it myself.

I's love to try waterless coolant but its very expensive.

Expensive if you have a radiator fail or leak occur, thats my only issue with the stuff.

Distilled water makes very little difference with modern coolant mixes tbh, especially if using concentrate and making it up yourself like I do.

The small amounts of water left in the system are going to make little difference to any mix you do (y)

We'll ########## #########. So a few short runs Monday, no issue. The missus takes it to work, 20 minutes away, 4 minutes from work the temperature gauge shot up, warning lights and everything. She stopped the car and let it cool then drove the next 4 minutes - no warning lights. I drove out to her and the lower hose had come off.. So on my back in an effing car park 0 degrees here. The local fiat garage is also a Peugeot dealer, had no paraflu but sold the Peugeot stuff (double the price) and said that is what they put in the fiats..... No other option due time, light, dodgy car park. So filled again, did everything again and drove down the road to the fiat/Peugeot garage. They put it on the ramp and doubled checked the fixing and said it was ok, but they said if fit blew off maybe it's faulty and to replace it.... So it made it back with no issue but I really don't know what to do now. Part of me now things to pay the guys at my local dedicated fiat dealer to change the Peugeot coolant to paraflu and replace the quick release fixing... I was so bloody proud of myself and I will end up paying more than if I would have taken it in the first place...arrrggghhh

As the above said.... you really dont need to worry about paraflu branded.

Its Red OAT coolant. Paraflu is or was owned by Fiat, that's all. I use Eurocarpart Triple qs red oat and its been fine. Other on here have used halfords.

It's not red, it's green. Ok for -32 degrees and validated for Peugeot Citroen. I am now nervous for driving it as I am sure it was on correctly.. Oh we'll, I will leave it for now and enjoy a few days of Christmas and test it next week.. Happy Christmas everyone and thanks for help.

I think the peugeot coolant you got was BASF Glysantin® G33

Normally blue or green means non oat and non mixable or really usable with Fiat Pink OAT but it looks like G33 is the same as FIAT, 5 year oat. Just in a strange blue-green colour.

Your should be ok with that if its the above. Dont worry about it coming off again.

After I did my cam belt i was carrying around a few 2ltr lemonade bottles of water for just such an occasion. It never happened and even if it does, force it back on and fill.

Best of luck

I would not worry too much. Maybe next year do it again with that Europarts made up red stuff at about £9. Can't do any harm.
The real tragedy is those soppy clips which are a recipe for leakage and trouble.
Jubilee clips have a 50-60 year history of success. Why, oh why do modern manufacturers not use them.
Imagine a committee trying to improve them. After 6 hours, someone says jubilee clips work just fine.....lets stick with them.
Smear the inside of the hose with a tad of Vaseline to get a good seal, which will slip on and off easily in 4 years time.
