Hi all, I have been having intermittent power steering failure for a while, changed battery for a new one etc. Still having issues. Took car to a garage plugged in the car , got error codes C1002 and C1007, been informed the torque sensor etc is on way out and the coloumn will need replacing. A couple of questions, can a second hand or refurbished one be fitted?, does a second hand part need to be coded? or do i have to get a new one? Thirdly How much am i looking at to get this fixed second hand or new?

Thanks :)

Give these guys a call, they'll tell you all you need to know.

Personally I'd have your existing column remanufactured - it'll likely be better than new & AFAIK you shouldn't have to recalibrate anything. If you fit either a new column, or a secondhand one from another vehicle, it'll almost certainly need recalibration.

If you're not up to removing it yourself, you could get a local indie to do it & send the part away, but obviously you'll be without the car for a few days.
