I want my boot to only lock with a key so I don't ever lock my keys in the boot.

Is there anyway to do this without having to change all the locks?

Pull the connector?

All that will do is to stop you from being able to unlock it without the key - it'll still lock shut when you close the hatch.

The mechanical design of the latching mechanism is such that, AFAIK, there is no way you can stop it from locking when you close the hatch. Even with the wiring connected, it still mechanically locks when closed - it's just that it unlocks automatically when you lift the handle if the rest of the car is unlocked.

Even if you change all the locks, it still can't be done. That's just the way it's made.

you could always modify the latch tension so it snaps SHUT when the key isn't holding it open, or physically fill the latch with a screwdriver , D shackle / etc.
then even if you try to shut the tailgate.. it wont actually catch until you use the key to OPEN the lock.

BUT the basic key is the most simple / cost effective.
