Yep - so I checked the wheelfitment.eu site, which gave me tyre/wheel options for the Panda 169, and they range from bog standard 155/80 x 13 up to 195/60 x 16!
Possibly the 16" is for the 4x4, but they don't specify that.

Thanks for the various helps, guys. Think I'll chicken out and go for 15"s with winter rubber.

Since we'll have both shelled out £200+ on winter tyres, a warm, mild winter is almost guaranteed.

The comments about snow shoes & skis are great, but don't forget they slide & are designed to stop you sinking into the snow. Call me stupid, but I don't like my car sliding on snow, so wide & flat doesn't sound logical! ;)

If anyone manages to work out what the biggest (wheel diameter & profile) tyre is, which will fit the 4x4 without rubbing, I'd be more than interested. I can't work out whether 15" wheels are ok, let alone what is the tallest profile! I can't see any threads where this has been discussed with a conclusion either. (y)
