Just an update on my 2007 Panda 1.3 multijet saga and the embarrassing oil stains outside the house. To say I'm having a 'Victor Meldrew' day with this car would be an understatement!

In the last visit the sump was removed and resealed fortunately under warranty.
I went for a 10 mile drive got back to see more bloody oil leaking, from some where else I guess. Very strange in such a young engine with only 41000 miles! Or maybe around 41000 miles is Fiat multijets life expectancy! (n)

So hey ho looks like its back to the garage for another bodge job and to be without the car for another day. Wonder what they'll patch up next time to stop the oil leak, the rear view mirror! I know I shouldn't complain as its under warranty but I got the car to get from A to B not to hop on the bus every week, no courtesy car either and the fact I have to get it to the garage then get the bus back. Not to mention it cost me £3700 and I'm not getting any pleasure from it :(
They should be collecting it from my house and letting me have a courtesy car or even better give me the courtesy car in exchange and they can take my car to the scrap yard!

This is seriously bringing back bad memories of my very first car a Matiz which was in the garage with a blown cylinder head almost every week for the entire 3 months I had it. Then I was fobbed off with claims they'd reskimmed the cylinder head etc. The plus point then was it only cost me £950 second hand and I got £500 part ex when I got rid of it after the warranty had expired.
With the current heap of junk I paid £3700 for; I seriously doubt I will get half its value back (£1850) part ex.

First and bloody last fiat I'm getting!

I can understand that all the oil leaks and things would annoy you, it's not because you got a FIAT though that you're having problems.

It sounds like you're making bad decisions as to which garages you are choosing to go to.

I would be blaming the numpties who can't put a sump on and don't have a courtesy car for you rather than the makers of your 7 year old car when it breaks down.

Fiat/ Vauxhall and Ford use the same engine, so all main dealers of those should know the engine inside out, especially the first 2.

Best of Luck with the problems.

How much oil is it losing? A drip on the driveway/pavement or lots?

My sympathies are with you!

I had my sump replaced on the second visit to the garage but still had oil decorating the block paved drive - garage now says it's the rear crank shaft oil seal that needs replacing - but they are refusing to do it. Another garage has quoted £600 to replace so the car is sitting over a tray of cat litter catching the drips whilst I bury my head in the sand!

As you say it's not just the cost that's a factor but the whole inconvenience of being carless whilst it's in the garage.

Good luck with it!
