Someone did this a few months ago, they bought the parts off eBay and did it themselves. IIRC, they were successful, but commented on the fact that the eBay parts weren't as high quality as the OEM originals which they replaced.

It all depends on price, IMO. If the eBay ones are far cheaper, then even if it only lasts a year or two, it's probably better value in the long run (especially seeing as swapping over the innards presumably only takes a few mins).
Also, you know how fussy some people can be, I have no idea how bad the eBay jobs quality was, I guess that also depends on which eBayer you buy from.
Long story short, if they prices are similar, go for second hand OEM, if the eBay ones are much cheaper, go for one of them .
