Hi,

current have 165/65R14 T 79 tyres on my panda eleganza. Could anybody help with any suggestions of a change of tyres/size - anything that would make it ride more comfortably? I do a lot of urban driving and am looking to squeeze as much comfort into my little car as possible.

Thanks.

p.s I'm a novice regarding tyres and have searched the forum - couldn't find much on changing wheel sizes and tyres re. comfort...

For the most comfortable ride, I'd say 80 profile tyres on 13" wheels, inflated to the minimum recommended pressure. Increasing the pressure will help economy but harden the ride. Low noise tyres may also make the car seem to ride more comfortably, and it will certainly be a bit quieter.

Depending on the age & mileage of the car, you might also consider replacing the shock absorbers, especially if it feels 'bouncy'.

I'm currently running 155/80R13 Michelin Energy tyres on mine, and the ride is absolutely fine.

The Continental EcoContact5 is easily the most comfortable (and quiet) tyre that I've bought recently, and are available in that size. They are very low rolling resistance, but manage to be compliant at the same time, unlike mosr 'eco' tyres. Their flexible sidewalls mean that razor-sharp steering response is no longer on the cards, but otherwise they're a really good compromise.
