My Panda has today shown signs of a misfire, but under very specific (and reproducible) conditions.

At low revs (less than 2000 rpm) and under load, especially if try to power in third gear at 1500-2000 rpm, the car misfires. As soon as 2000rpm reached, all is fine. (car is 4x4 so gearing a little lower)

Its almost as if plugs/leads are damp, but its all bone dry. Could this be an engine management/injector issue? All spark plugs and leads are good (resaonably new too), all injector connectors secure, coil pack and ECU plugs fully 'home'. OVer 2000rpm, no issues, and below in lower gears (eg pulling away in first, no issues)

No warning lights.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem a while back, and it turned out to be a small crack on the ceramic part of the spark plug. I replaced the faulty spark plug and it solved the problem.

Did the fault just start on its own?

OK - I had a good look and chose to replace the spark plugs. Because the car gets used off road occasionally (gentle green lanes), a fair bit of muddy water had found its way around the plugs where it had then dried into a 'crud' on the plugs and in the 'wells' they sit in. Thought I'd cured it -- certainly much better after new plugs and cleaning around their seats, but still one splutter on the way into work today.

Wondering if its a return of the problem I had in the winter where the wiring connection to the fuel injector broke... certainly the yellow plug connecting to the injector on the right hand cylinder has more 'wobble' than the other three (I managed to source a fuel rail and injectors from a breaker, and replaced just one, so still have three spare to use)
