Im looking to do cambelt & water pump, in the past ive noticed the quality of some water pumps is rubbish, I don't want to spend a whole day doing it and then the pump goes in 6 months or a year and have to do the whole thing again.

I'd be really grateful if anyone has any first hand experience of the pump brand they used and how long its been trouble free for and also any makes I should stay well clear of!

Ditto for tensioner actually

Cheers

The pump on my MJ was only replaced a few thousand miles ago (at about 80,000) and only then because the belts were being replaced and an OE part was used, so bearing in mind the relatively low cost of a FIAT pump why not replace like with like?

you wont get better as gates supply original manufacturing parts
the quality is the best
Just to update this threat for anyone else doing a cam belt change.

I took the advice of S & B and got the full gates kit, looks to be good quality, the water pump has a metal impeller rather than the plastic of the fiat one that come out. Crucially, it sealed well (with some liquid gasket) and seems to be doing the job im up to 450kms post change now and no drop in coolant or any gremlins.

For anyone else that's about to do the job i'd be happy to say Gates seem to be good quality. If I have any problems at all I'll let everyone know.
