only started since yesterday, when you put the climate control on, and you accelerate, get a quite loud whirring noise from the engine compartment coming into the cabin. not heard anything like this before, anyone got anything similar? i know the weather has been hot, but even on previous sustained days of heat its always been quiet

I think mine makes the same type of noise you speak of, It might be the clutch system on the compressor as I believe it cuts out under full load to give more power to the road wheels. But I am not fully conversant with the system used on the panda (Eleganza)
Maybe a comment from a Fiat Tech will be posted

Well, I'm not a mechanic - but I looked it up in this CD I have that seems to be the garage diagnostic tool for Pandas. It says this about Climate Control:

A special button enables the operation of the air cooling circuit; but the actual switching on of the compressor also depends on the intervention of:

the fan linear sensor, located in the refrigerant circuit, which stops the air conditioning being switched on if the pressure of the fluid is too low or too high;
the engine control unit which, depending on the engine management logic, excludes the operation of the compressor; for example, in the case of high engine temperatures or high engine load (sudden acceleration);
information coming from the anti-frost thermostat on whether there is condensation on the air conditioning pipes (for versions with manual air conditioner);
information coming from the climate control system (for versions with automatic air conditioner).
The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a specific relay, located in the engine compartment junction unit; the relay supply line is protected by a specific fuse.

hi is that the workshop manual for new panda..i have been looking for one. where did you get it from?

Sorry for the delay, I have been on holiday.

I am quoting from a Fiat "eLearn" CD (dated 2003) for the new Panda that I bought on eBay.

The same information seems to be here: Fiat Aftersales - but of course, needs a name and password - and I doubt that anyone can supply us that :)

The CD I have is original and appears to have no copyright or other legal/redistribution info on it. No promises, but if you really, really, need a copy, PM me, and I'll see what I can do.

I obtained these CDs from Ebay too, they are quite informative - there is enought information for me to carry out routine servicing and repairs...as I work as an Engineer I like to know what is happening with my cars.
