Just a quick note to all. On Saturday I finally got the boys to put some new boot on my little girl.
I wanted the rears changing and swapping to the front, as the current front F1's still have a bit of meat on them plus I will see what I think of the Yokos S drive.
Mine is a '57 and these were the original rears! A post a few weeks ago was asking for a best before for tyres. My answer is 7 years! While my rears were perfectly legal the rubber had degraded on the inside sidewall and in the tread! Cracks everywhere!
Apparently that what the Goodyears do! So keep an eye open.
On to the Yokos and so far yes, I mean they will have to bed in, but they have been fun on the run to Oulton Park :)

Oh and hi to a grey 100hp I saw near ikea in brum! My first encounter in the wild!

My answer is it depends on how many miles you have done, and how they have been treated - ie driving style. Also the climate, the tyre make, the road surfaces and many more factors.
One cannot put an arbitrary figure on such a thing.

Capt,

She's done 28k, the fronts which are F1's also are only 2yo so just keep an eye open that's all.

Still it's nice not to find out how the Yokos are in the wet yet nice warm dry day on a bank holiday Monday, can't be right

Agreed, yoko's are simply superb, I had A008's on a 450i 10 years ago... very very nice - and they have moved on a lot since then !

What is strange, is that the issue you had seemed to affect the inside wall more than the outside ? - this is contrary to most tyre makers / motoring organisation etc advice relating to UV degradation as the worst culprit. MOT should also pick up degradation of this nature.

Anyways, glad you like the yokos, I always rated them.. they were nearly as good as Avon Turbospeeds in the dry :D - we got 80 miles out of a new pair on the back of an HS2.3 Chevette..... - the fronts weren't much better.. but be gads was it a fun 80 miles...
Hail the red dot Turbospeeds... may they rest in pieces... :worship:

edit MY GOD !! :) the UK got a HOT bank holiday lol ??? -

you do realise there will be a hose pipe ban next fekking week !!! ;)

Hot is relative. In Derbyshire we had a full day of sun on Friday. It was freezing

Today we had 2 hours of sun. It was a roasting 13C at times.

Yoko's are usually pretty good tyres although they can be quite a soft compound and hence wear quite quickly when hard driven, also interesting to note that your 100HP is a girl as i think of mine more as a boy.

The MOT doesn't check for degradation though, if it has degraded to the point where chunks are falling off the tyre then it'll fail, but till then they'll pass.

Ok crowd, yes the inside thing is odd to say the least, no chunks though, which is why she passed her MOT last month.
Girl / boy thing this one could run!
All my cars are girls, they just are. Not in a nasty way, just think they are all girls, at least they are not "it" or part of yourself...

Back on subject, getting to like the Yokos they seem to give quite a bit of feel, maybe more than the Goodyears!!!
But the ride is no worse and a bit more noise.
So maybe soon a couple more on the back.... Well swap them for the scrubbed fronts.......

A big shove it!! Great fun car, my dad had a 1.3, no brakes and many shades of green paint, ours was not a fun car, you lucky thing!

Yes hot weather is relative and what you are used to..... 21c at Oulton today not bad! I'm still cold though 3 years living in Western Australia, they call that a cold night lol

I'm originally from WA! :)

I do laugh when people call it hot here also.

Well I am a bleeding Pom.
Went over for work stayed three years and loved it.
And I mean that, apart from they drive too slow and they can't say the word data.
It was good we were in Doubleview by scabo beach road. Cycled and got fit.
Really miss Perth great place for a family in my honest view.
Where were you from?

I lived in Morley, lived there for 22 years of my life and now live in sunny North Wales. Perth drivers are the worst, I got my licence in Perth but learnt to drive in the UK!!!!!

Nah Perth drivers were so passive aggressive. The rudest thing they'd do is sit on your bumper and not overtake you despite there being nothing coming the other way for 3km, which you could see!
Mind you the police were the most evil for speed gunning you while hiding behind trees! Or parked unmarked Datsun Patrols grrr!
Love North wales that's where my dad's family are from!
