Fiat panda 58 plate, dynamic 1.2, no mods.

Problem - when foot taken off the gas in lower gears 1-3, it bounces. Have to be really careful to take foot off very slowly, or put clutch down. Has been happening for a while now.

I wondered if the fuel inlet was being cut off instantly, rather than a more gradual decrease?

I only have a moderate knowledge of cars, but willing to give it a go with a trusty Haynes manual.

Let me know any suggestions you might have! :)

Bottom engine mounting - gearbox to frame -
This can and does cause a very kangeroo like action on gas lift off - just as you describe !!- worth checking for any fault codes just in case though - aslo normal checks of plugs. leads etc.
If you change the mounting, get the 100hp one, it is fractionally firmer, and half the price.
If it is worn, when you replace it, it will be like driving a newer car - the difference is chalk and cheese.

Thanks - will check sensors etc first but bare this in mind. Hopefully something simple. How easy is changing the mounting if it comes to that?<br />

Jon did it recently, great write up here -
https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/345144-changing-panda-bottom-engine-mount.html

I had mine done by local Fiat dealer - 40 € fitted ! - not getting my hands dirty at that - uk will be far more I suspect - but its only 15 mins work for them - mine is a 1.2 dynamic - as said, use the 100hp mount (even if they say its not the right one - IT IS !!, and its half price !.. the only difference is slightly stiffer rubber - only very slightly at that...
World of difference.

Use 100HP part number 51739522 TELL them that is the part if they disagree..
Price 25€ here - UK £30.14 inc taxes (for part only)

WIll cost you double for the std one..;)

If you have just aquired the car - if not from a Fiat main dealer - I would suggest you have a full diagnostic check on the car by Fiat.
ALso might as well get them to give you a print off of EFI ecu mileage (real mileage) - and number or rewrites, and ABS Start counter... can tell you a lot about the car (y)

Enjoy

Sorry was talking about my punto starjet I checked it today and lower mounts a bit soft with small cracks wouldn't have thought enough to cause the problem

No worries, if you are happy with the mounting after reading the info presented here, then best thing is take it for a full diagnostic check.

Personally, whatever the issue, if the mounting is soft with cracks, I would change it as it makes such a huge difference to comfort and driveability - certainly on the Panda. I have never driven or even been in a punto but I would presume it is the same.
