Technical code reader

will this do for reading any engine fault codes on my 2006 panda multijet?
will I need to buy additional fiat leads or wll the lead that comes with it fit?
thanks in advance www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Any-car-OBD2-EOBD-CAN-Fault-Code-Reader-Scanner-diagnostic-scan-tool-UK-/181386025865?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a3b731b89

Hi Dozer, it is purely a generic obd reader, yes, it will read main codes and allow deletion of error codes. it will not allow access to specific ecus or data, but for the most part is certainly a useful thing to have. It will give you a good starting point and in many cases identify a specific fault.
You do not need any other leads for the unit - just plug it in.

A good analogy between the standard generic readers and a product like MES is the generic reader is a test lamp, MES is a top of the range multi meter.

It is still a damn good thing to have. - I am sure it will pay for itself many times over.

Look for the cheapest on ebay - if you look, there are mainly only about 3 designs, all with different labels on - but you can see it is the same unit.
I have exactly the same unit with red colour and a different make / model name :)

I always keep one in the car along with the basic tool kit, spare bulbs, fuses etc.

Enjoy.,

thank you very much.
I will order one today.
It went in for a full service last week. eml was on, garage told me it was "inlet manifold air leak" so after a fiddle about I found the clip on the pipe to the maf sensor was lose. clip replaced with a jubilee clip. car is going much better now.
just need to buy one of them to switch eml off. cheers.

Doesn't the light clear itself after three clean cycles?

gr J

I think it depends on the fault as to the number of cycles, some are more than others - I am not sure of the exact numbers / conditions ?. - the beauty of manual reset is immediately seeing if fault re-occurs without cycling.
Might be some more details in elearn - will have a look...

I recently plugged one of these in mine, and one of these metrics I saw, was called ‘engine load’.
Well, it struck me that I never came above 90% when pressing the throttle. Any ideas why?
