Hi all

Today, as I was setting off after a red light, my Panda lost all power. It started OK, but in changing from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear (I dont remember which) there were no pull from the engine. I managed to roll into a petrol station, where I found that:

1: the clutch pedal rises as usual when I take my foot off it.
2: in gear, when releasing the clutch, no grip between engine and wheels is felt until I remove my foot from the clutch pedal, but not enough grip to actually move the car.
3: The gearbox grinds teeth when I try to put it in reverse.

The car has done almost 100,000 km's, and never shown signs of clutch wear - the clutch gripping point has always been the same, and it hasn't lost "pull(?)" even when accelerating fast uphill or heavily loaded.

Searching the net, it seems the left had drive Pandas has a clutch cable, and RHD has hydraulics - but what I have found about broken clutch cables seems to agree that if a clutch cable is broken the pedal should be on the floor?

Basically - shall I buy a clutch cable and go to the petrol station and change it? (and how difficult is that to do?) or shall I call a tow truck and pay a fortune to have some garage fix it if it isn't just the cable?

Kind regards and happy Easter and all :)

Dosen't sound like the clutch cable to me, it that snaps then the pedal would stay flat to the floor as there would be no resistance pulling it back.
