Hi everyone.

Just put a deposit down on a rather sexy 100hp 2009 panda today. When I test drove it I noticed when I had my foot on the clutch and turned the wheel I could feel it moving against the top of my shoe. Very odd I thought. When I got out of the car I could see behind the clutch pedal at the back there was a small exposed area which revealed a cog like movement when I turned the steering wheel. My foot was obviously touching this. I don't have huge feet or anything so should this cog be exposed? Has anyone else had this issue?

I hope I have described it correctly.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave, it is the steering column intermediate shaft bottom UJ and its normal.
If you turn the wheel and that UJ doesnt turn, grab on to something quick..;)

Thanks for the swift response :) OK sounds like a vain thing to say but I noticed after my test drive that it has
D skuffed my shoes :( is there a panel I can put across or so something? I don't want to ruin all my work shoes with skufs etc

I'm thinking I might need to change my driving style to use my tip toe rather than ball of my foot but easier said than do e lol

Agree with MEP, it is a driving style thing, however, it is not helped by the layout. It IS rather close on the RHD cars. The RHD is an afterthought really:rolleyes:
The proper ones are LHD, have a real cable clutch also - and the column UJ is well out of the way...
If you really are scuffing shoes though, I would look at changing habits. Were you ever HGV or PSV ? a lot of those guys used the ball of the foot on older vehicles.. ?
Before 5 speed boxes, on IAM courses we used to say "When in 4 - foot on floor"

its like a gun, only handle (or footle) it when you are going to use it lol :D

I have a massive feet too. I've been telling ladies the compensation theory since i bought it. :D

:nutter:
