Cool find. Totally off-topic, but there was similar vehicle manufactured in former Czechoslovakia, which also sells for serious money today - ČZ "Riksha". AFAIK it was manufactured primarily for export to India. My great-uncle used to have one for transporting tools, fertilizer etc. to his vineyard, unfortunately, his grandchildren had it scrapped after his death before I had a chance to react.
Wow ! - what a shame they had it scrapped ! - that is superb... there is an early version of the 3 wheeler here like that, and another make - I will see if I can find a picture.
I have even seen pictures of the Ape as a Police Car lol.. ..
In some of the Portuguese villages, these are the ONLY vehicles you would get up the road ! - sometimes now, they use motor cycles with small trailers on - this is usually to sell produce from.. they put 200 and 300 Kg load in them !! amazing.
I am REALLY looking forward to driving it, but it will be a year I would think, I will strip it down completey this summer and do the rest of the detail work in the winter when it is cooler to work. The garage under the Villa is only 10 metres from a river, so is pleasent to work in even in the summer months.
Going to buy a compressor today, something with a good capacity as I like air tools as well as the paint facilities. I also noticed a nice Tig welder cheap !.. I have stick and Mig - but tig would be good also.
Found a local plating company for bolts and fittings, also a bead and glass blasting company. Galvanising is available here too. - every small industry is available, and cheap !.
The local Fiat dealer has a paint oven and is happy to do all the parts I need in the slack periods - I would use 2 pack on some items so breathing apparatus is needed really, they have it - they also do super work and they are really cheap. - If I am in no rush it's 15€ an hour for a paint specialist and oven.. I can paint ok, but dont have the breathing kit ok clean area, I would also leave any panel beating to the specialists. - If I did it it would look worse than before.. these guys are miracle workers..
