Has any kind soul ever removed, for any reason, their front seat covers, the real ones ? ie the cloth from the squab (base) and the back ?

Reason I ask is I want new padding on my seat, cloth is fine.. being a left hooker, I can probably get a cushion set from the UK from a passenger seat with little wear.. my XXL frame does not like the seat after 120k klicks......

I will take a seat out and peruse later in the week, but someone may have repadded or altered theirs ???
ta.

hey i took mine apart to put in my heated seat elements it isnt greatly difficult just fiddly as the fabric has pipeing on the seams which is hooked in to catches on to clips within the foam.

Wow thanks mate ! ;)
That's excellent news.... I need to start looking for a 'hardly sat on by a large git like me' passenger seat base and back cushion if anyone has one ??? (obviously its only the foam parts so cloth colour is of no consequence...)

fair enough lol would it not be easier just to get a seat? on ebay ther is literally hundreds of pandas breaking just finking for sake of maybe an extra few quid lot more simple as they will prob charge u full seat price anyway cloth or no cloth and save maybe a couple hours labour for yourself?

True yes, but the cost of shipping a seat would be rather a lot, the cushions only wont be too much.. I can also ask a friend of mine in the uk to post them to here.
If I can find one for the right price then certainly I will get one..
We also have some fabulous upholsterers and foam cutters here in Portugal, so I may be able to get custom cushions made and shaped, they have electric heated cutters for the foam for shaping.. - a nice 40Kg per M3 foam would be good ;) - but yes, the real thing is easier.. trying to find a panda for breaking here is like looking for rocking horse **** !!!! they just keep fixing them !

no bother good luck (y)

I've removed the rear cover on a mk3 Bench before to put it in the wash. I was going to do the front also, but didn't bother when I realised what a pain the rear was. It's doable, but I won't be doing it again out of choice.
Thanks Jon (I think lol ;)) - luckily, it is only the drivers seat cushion and my body frame to blame - I would rather change the cushion than my shape as it would mean reducing my intake of local produce. :D (y)
I will risk itl There are though - believe it or not, automotive upholsterers here still, not one or two, but hundreds.
mind you, when you are paying around 2k for a 1996 golf or polo etc, then you need the places to keep them running and looking good. Some of the cars here are totally unbelievable, one of the marina guys just bought an early 205 GTI, it is absolutely like new in appearance, and drives like it too. he paid 2 k for that. anything less than around 2 grand here is total scrap, there is no in-between really. Hence all the small cottage industries like we used to have in the UK... don't forget, up until the 70's, this place was a dictatorship !. they HAD to do most things themselves, that attitude has carried over and luckily the credit craze didn't strike too many here so didnt have much effect - only in the big cities and the horrible algarve - yuk.. mind you, a small themo nuclear bomb on the algarve would be a good idea. :D - preferably when fully occupied with 'people' on jobseekers and asbo angle bracelets. - or indeed, taking part in a stupid brit tv show paying them to get rat arsed and **** in the street etc.....:rolleyes: - they have to pass an IQ test to get onto these programs, if in double digits, they are excluded. - they also have to include a one legged black lesbian single parent childless couple with ADHD - not muslims, as they cant show them getting rat arsed as easily so they are less inclined to vomit for the entertainment of the public....
It's like a plot for mad max
And its happening on a tv screen near YOU :bang:

Now now Cap'n, just take a little more of the red stuff and c a l m d o w n.

We have a similar thing on French telly where a bunch of arseholes from Lille (les Chti's)/Marseille and any other large city, go abroad on paid jolies.

Fortunately there are other channels...............................

Turning gently rouge in the sun,

Dave

PS I wonder if it's "Grumpy Old Men" syndrome - "You cannot be serious !"

Hi Dave, it probably is, I am getting old! - 57 next !! yikes !, and definitely grumpy... ;) ..... or grumpier .... we don't have a TV, but occasionally use IPlayer over a vpn.. not much though.. and although the local beer and spirits are ridiculously cheap, I don't partake... 'tis the food for me... too much of a good thing lol :)
I retired at 47, I should have done it at 37.. :) - I would have had the pleasure of missing almost another 10 years of uk tv haha :)
Cap'n Joe.

Cap'n Joe.

I retired at 40, cameback to work at 46, then retired again at 49 and never looked back.

Just been out in Wendys 1.1 Panda Classic - what a blast !!!! It's the first time I've driven it "in anger" so to speak and it was just great. Fun in the purest driving sense - took me back to rallying Mini's.

62 this year - silver medal at the Grumpy Old Gits Games or GOGGs as we old'uns call it.

Dave
