Hi folks,
If you have satnav mounted in the car, where did you decide to mount it, it is a bit of a weird car to mount a unit in.. It is a fairly small Garmin Nuvi 42.
If you have found a good place that doesn't cause vision issues or wiring issues, then please let me know, a pic would be good if possible.
Am going to mount the wiring properly in dash and into a supply in the glove box. head unit will be removed when not in use.
Thanks,
Cap.

I still use a map which I keep in the pocket at the back of my passenger seat, lol.

Some good ideas, I like the cd holder thingy, also Smurf's method  lol,
Bottom left wind screen may be the best.....
I suppose I could stick it over the rev counter lol:D - beggar all use for anything else....
Seriously though, it IS a difficult car to find a good place to mount it.
Dont think the traffic wombles care much here as all the taxis have them on the top of the instrument cluster - which is not the best as afar as vis goes...

I have a Nuvi 30 which is tiny, but perfectly usable, which I mount in the bottom right corner of the windscreen using the suction mount it came with.

Thanks All, Gav, watch those old bones :D lol ;)
I will try the bottom left (we are on the 'wrong' side here although it feels correct now) - The gov makes you put registration and insurance info there so I cant see they could complain about vision, and it is quite small (4.3 screen).

@MEP, where are you running the wiring sir ? - are you looping up behind the cluster or coming over the dash ? - I was going to mount the wiring in dash if possible to a power point in the glove box - well we are fitting two in there - the 12v socket (same as cig lighter type but good quality marine) - second is for mp3 player. If I remove the garmin cable from the power adapter, it is only about 5mm so a very small hole if needed, I can then resolder into the power adapter. Otherwise it is a large enough hole for the usb angled connector to come through..

Again, thanks for all the responses. Much appreciated.

I made this bracket from an offcut of Marley rainwater downpipe. It hooks over the dashboard and under the air vent on my 2013 Panda, allows access to the air vent controls, and does not interfere with forward vision.

Warmed the plastic with a paint stripper heat gun, clamped in a vice between two pieces of wood, and bent to shape. Sets hard within about ten seconds, so you have to work quickly, but you can keep modifying the shape until you get it right. If overheated, the plastic starts to turn brown, as can be seen in the pictures, so I shall make another one now that I’ve got the correct shape.

That's not in a Panda though!

That right there is art....that's what that is..;):D
Aha ! , now I see!!!
Strange name for a car though.... - a derivative of Arthur I presume ? ... :)

I would have thought 'Sauce Bottle' would have been better ? or is that sexist these days ? :(

I use my mobile phone, got a holder from Ebay which has a flat, circular disc which has double sided tape underneath. I put that on the dash board, just left of the rounded "hump" so it is pretty much in the centre of the car. Then, you can get a choice of holder attachments - a snake thingy, or an upright "pylon". I use the latter as it seems more solid, but it does block the centre view a bit. Howver, I only use it if France or the UK, don't need it day to day in Jersey ;)

I just plug it into the existing power outlet, up the right of the center console, up the left of the instrument panel and around the back of it.

Thanks for the reply, I would prefer to have a more fixed wiring and don't want to use the 12v connector in the centre if possible - hence adding 2 units to the inside of the glove box. In the mean time though, until I get a round 'tuit' - I will use the same methodology as your good self ... :)
