hi guys, i wonder if you can help me . i have a 2007 multijet panda and i seem to have a fluid leak from a black upright cylinder( 8 inches tall and about 4 accross) with a green top at the back left of the engine bay as you look at it from front. can anyone tell me what this thing is ? thanks in advance for any replies , all the best sean

That describes your diesel fuel filter. It might be a bit greasy but shouldn't leak :( Has your car just been serviced? - if the green collar isn't tight it will leak merrily!
 
Yup, sounds like the fuel filter. It's a cartridge type that that goes in from the top via a large plastic screw on/off lid. It's possible that the top seal which I think is an 'O'-Ring. If it hasn't been changed lately maybe it's worth having it done which will get you a new seal as well.

quick update, top ring was leaking as suggested so i managed to get a large pair of grips on it and tightened it a tad in position. leak has stopped !! wahay. i will carry the grips with me and keep a beady one on it over the next few days. cheers again fellas.
