Hi

Panda 100hp is reving itself at idle randomly from 1000 to 3500 rpm. If I blip the throttle the revs will fall back down only to start to rise again almost immediately.

It has been plugged in to the diagnostics which show no codes, the throttle body is nice and clean (although not sure there is even an EGR valve to soot it up).

The current thoughts are that either the throttle pedal assembly (potentiometer?) or throttle position sensor (if separate) could be causing the issue.

I have done a quick trawl of the forums and I can’t find mention of this specific issue but I may be searching the wrong terms.

Does anyone have a link to part numbers for the two bits above as I'd like to put a cost on it but don't have a local fiat dealer to ask at. Or has anyone had this issue and fixed it themselves?

There were a couple of vacuum hoses that had split but these have been replaced and the problem still remiains. Help please!

Not a common problem on the 100HP but on most cars this tends to be one of a few things, either the throttle position sensor, crank sensor or if its a 'fly by wire' throttle it can be the stepper motor on the air flow meter, the majority of problems on the 100hp are exasperated by a worn out battery so first thing i'd do is remove the positive terminal for 20 minutes or so then reconnect and see if this changes anything, air leaks somewhere in the inlet can also cause running issues doe to a weak mixture confusing one or more of the sensors.
 
No EGR, but oilvapour out of the PCV will have it's effect on the throttlebody and the rest of the intake.
Has it started after replacing the vacuumhoses? That may cause the ECU to frantically look for the right mixture. As suggested resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery might cure it.

Cheers both, I'll try resetting the ECU (sounds better than disconnecting the battery!).

Todays new development is no power at all even when foot pressed to the floor on start up. release throttle and then all is well...
 
your dealers are probably muppets :eek:
If there was no fault logged, they can use the diagnostics to check the linearity and stability of the throttle pot, also they can monitor the idle control valve movement (which gives a good indication of a leak if up n down like a bride's nightie)
From what you are saying in the last post it does sound like the throttle pot,
 
Well, battery disconnect hasn't worked.

No fiat dealer here, its an indie so not sure if the diagnostic equipment is that comprehensive!

May have to phone a dealer to get a price on the throttle pot...
