Hi all, newbie here, hope you can help!! Went to put petrol in tonight, and the cap won't come off my 08 Panda. It's a non locking model, just the one that unscrews a bit like a medicine cap. It's just turning and clicking and not unscrewing. I'm running on vapour and I'm hoping I've got enough fuel to get me to my dealership in the morning for help.


Is there any way I could get the cap off myself then buy a replacement cap? Trying to avoid an expensive bill, I'd really appreciate any advice

You are turning left aren't you? Usually it clicks when overtightening.

have had this occasionally happen to me and usual trick is to hold base of cap and turn anticlockwise.shouldn't be overly tight as ratchet mechanism stops you from overtightening it.

Press down on the cap and turn to the left. Might be a bit loose catching the thread to unscrew.

Fair point! I actually managed to get it off the next morning after a fair bit of very gentle persuasion, it is definitely on the way out though, so I have a replacement one on order.
