Seen a couple of posts covering corrosion to the offside wiper arm. Not sure, however, if anyone has tried to rub down, treat and recoat/paint? If you have, did you remove the arm to do the work or did you do it in situ?
Also if you did repair yourself, has it lasted, or has the corrosion/paint flaking returned?

I'm trying to make my mind up whether its worth taking the repair work route, or just buying a new arm to put on. Has anyone bought one recently and, if so, what was the cost - ePER indciates only around £15, but not sure how accurate that would be?

Thanks for your help.

Rod.

I had this problem. It's very simple to fix.

Remove the wiper arms; pry off the plastic caps then unscrew the bolts. The wipers should just lift off. If not you may need a wiper puller.

Peel off the flaking paint, then use some sandpaper on the metal work so it's as smooth as possible.

Spray it with black paint. I think satin black is best. Use a few coats so it's an even covering. Leave it to dry and refit. I did this 4-5 months ago and it still looks good.

I did this over 2 years ago on both wiper arms. I added a coat of spray-on clear lacquer as extra protection. 40k mile later, they still look good.
