Just had my 2010 4x4 panda 1.2 serviced at local garage (just out of warrranty and dont like main dealer prices) and they used 5w30 longlife fully synthetic handbook says use 5w40. Garage assure me there is no real difference and 5w30 longlife is better. I dont do high miles in the panda is the garage right in no real difference?
sorry for yet another oil question just looking for a bit of reassurance.

Will be fine.
The numbers refer to how thick the oil is, but that is not a guide to how well it lubricates, or its film strength. Different manufacturers have their own oil specs, that relate to the additive package. (Have a look at the different varieties in Halfords) It is impossible for any garage to stock all the different varieties, so they use one or two general good quality oils. From your description it sounds like a quality oil, so you will have no worries.
