Yeah, I've read the reviews and I saw it on TG the other week. I looked at the old ST when I bought the 100HP but it's the old style, expensive to insure and has a crap engine. From what I read, the Zetec S from that generation was a better drive. The cheapest new style ST on autotrader is 15k at the moment...just a bit out of my student budget haha !

A friend of mine is swapping this 635D for one. It's that good.

I'd much rather have the Fiesta ST. Big, German cruisers don't interest me at all. They might be fast, reliable and safe, but they just seem so boring. They are to big cars what the Yaris and Corsa are to superminis, not bad, just boring.

For that size of car, I don't see why anyone would pick anything other than the Fiesta. It's an absolute hoot to drive even in its boring, non-Zetec S/ST form.

Is the Corsa really that bad?! A few of my mates have them (unsurprisingly, being 19/20 year olds) and they seem okay. Terrible to drive and totally uninspiring, but okay transport from A to B. The only recurring fault I've seen is the handbrake is crap.

Some people want a combination of quality and value for money though

Something the Yaris will always have over others in it's class.

Polo ? It might be more expensive than others in its class, but it's well built and holds its value well come resale time.

Personally, I'd still take the Fiesta every time .

It's a VW, so over priced and no more reliable than the next German car, or Italian for that matter.

The previous owner fitted it. It sounds nice and throaty without being too intrusive.
