My Panda Eleganza is a dual logic gearbox and just recently I have discovered 2 hiccups -
Problem One
the power steering intermittently fails, fortunately a turn off ignition and turn back on clears the problem for a reasonable period of days/weeks.
Problem Two
The transmission fails, unfortunately the on/off doesn't work for at least 2-3 minutes.
Anybody out there had a similar problem or got a good solution?

Hows your battery ?

The steering can suffer if the battery is past it's prime.

It's possible that it will affect other areas too

Nah, battery is AOK - all unnecessary accessories eg Air Con turned off.

Don't dismiss the battery. Our Panda had intermittent power steering failures but the battery seemed fine, it wasn't old (just over 3 years), car always started promptly, no other issues, voltage and charge were good. Steering would fail at least twice a week and ignition off and on would normally reset it.

New battery about 2 months ago totally fixed it (and it wasn't just disconnecting it for a few minutes to let the electrics "drain").

In fact I didn't believe it could be the battery so swooped it for a nearly new one from one of our other cars for a few days before buying the proper Panda one as it is an unusual size.

How do you know the battery is ok?

My money is on it currently.

Failing that earths etc.

Hi just read your post and there is a shining light bulb over my head because my son(In Africa) has talked about just this problem with other Fiats. So I will follow your advice!!
