As per the title, I still don't know why my Panda hasn't sold.

Could you take a look at the advert and let me know if there is anything I have missed or why my car still hasn't sold?

Thanks,
Rob

Price possibly, mentally I see £3600 as £4k.

Put it up for £3400, and I see it as £3k.

You had any interest at all then?

Thanks.. that's a good shout Jon, I'll change it to £3400.

I've had a couple of people phone up, but it's a case of people not wanting to travel for a car anymore. :(

Had 3 people duck out of viewing it as well.

where else have you advertised it ?

A quick look on Autotrader shows at £3400 it would be a very cheap car.

Ebay motors at fixed price with offer included twice now, it's currently on there for the second time after trying it before Autotrader.

Autotrader for 3 weeks and no luck off that either!

It's also been on Pistonheads previously.

I am certainly guilty of laziness in that regard. I did send the link to my son though as I think he should have it as it's a great price. He's in Surrey, I'm in Derbyshire.

I suspect there's the mileage mentality - this is what folks see first but there's no way you can change that.

You've pretty much covered anything anyone wants to see to be honest.

£3400 is a fair price for the car.

I can think of two possible reasons; either people are too lazy to travel to find a reasonably priced car and choose to buy an overpriced one locally instead, or there aren't too many folks who can lay their hands on that much ready cash & need dealer finance, even if it means paying a much higher price for a worse car.

Stick with it and don't be beaten down, your price is a fair one.

One of worst adverts i have ever read

No wonder no one is ringing and asking questions - youve answered them all for them! Your adverts way too long - was bored after two lines and lost interest

People arent bothered about that evo magazine review, its just waffling rubbish, they dont need a review of a car they are interested in buying as they are already aware of it and a magazine review shows the negatives also

You also start negatively saying your location is letting it down, no one really cares where you live, people will travel anywhere for the right car so remove that

You list all the negatives/bad bits of the car also - why would you make your car sound bad? Thats up to a viewer to decipher the bad bits or for you to reveal if asked

Group 11 is NOT cheap insurance for young people

Get rid of the tyre review

All Buyers are interested in an advert is - tax, mot, mileage, service history or not, price with ONO at the end, location and phone number - thats it, everything else is up to the interested party to ask and research themselves

Well thank you for passing it on AB100.

The mileage really isn't a problem though, it's got every service documented and it really is tidy for being 5 years old! I personally would rather own a car that's used regularly than one that's low mileage and has been sitting for a while, that's when problems start to arise in most cars.

I believe that advert isn't all that bad but I just haven't had anyone really interested in it :(

Perhaps it's too cheap? If there is such a thing..

You are also selling the car at the wrong time of year also which wont be helping - people want soft tops at this time of the year not sporty pandas so your market is small currently, you need the weather to change for the worst.

People are also away on their summer hols or have commited money to summer hols and spends so less people interested

Thank you for your input, I've just amended the advert to suit - you have some really good points about it all. New group 11 IS cheap for insurance - I can guarantee you. Not everything is done on group insurance, it's statistics and the risk of age groups in certain cars.

It's more expensive for me to insure a similar powered vehicle that is 5 groups lower. Obviously all subject to individual quotes, but that's just what I have found.

Have you tried putting a ad on pistonheads?? Think it is free for one picture that's where I bought mine from!
The ad looks ok almost looks like a dealer one (not sure if that's good or bad!!), think the super close up picture of the wear on the steering wheel and gear leaver could go as it may put a few people off and sometimes its better just writing it and letting people turn up as I had to take a second look and my first thought was that looks like a lot of wear for the mileage and that could be what people are thinking.
Looks like a nice tidy panda fingers crossed she goes soon (y)

Better but still too long and the stupid tyre review is still present

Ideal advert for me

Panda 100hp
08 (58)
Black
60k but in daily use so small increase should be expected
FSH
X months MOT
X months Tax
Usual Panda 100hp refinements
Added extras
£3600 ONO
Item located in xxxxxx
Call xxxxx xxxxxx for more information

Enough basic information for people, 'Added extras' is your exhaust and lead but the buyer doesnt know that

Just having just 'added extras' wrote adds a bit of mystery and makes advert stand out a bit, the buyer may wonder what they are and give you a call..................

You may question. I once had a jewellery item (not mine, I smell of man and eat chips out of old shoes) that I stuck on ebay at a reasonable £70. Nobody wanted it. Two weeks later I stuck it on ebay at £200 with 'Best Offer'. Someone paid £180.................

I think it's a good price though you probably were a bit honest on the bad points. Seriously, that £9000 green Panad 4x4 at Woodleigh is an absolute shed, yet there's no mention of the mucky inside and bodywork like Edward James Olmos' face.

Do you give a reason for sale? Maybe you should explain. Most people lie.

Get some grey wax shoe polish and try a bit of that on the gearlever and wheel. And remember for your next car - no Old Spice before driving - it kills bi-cast leather.

Advert amended yet again, I think that's as much as id like to cut out of it.

I haven't given a reason for sale, but the whole reason behind putting it up for sale was because I wanted a replacement, now because this hasn't sold I can't purchase the other car.
Going to sell it for the money now as I need to free it up.

I haven't damaged the leather myself, it was like that when I bought it unfortunately.

Thank you for all your input guys, really appreciated.

Are you for real? :bang:

The guy is clearly an enthusiast. It's a rare(ish) car. It's not 1998 and he's not restricted to 150 characters in Auto Trader magazine.

I sold my Clio 197 F1 last month. I listed almost everything I knew about the car and my advert was over an A4 page long. I sold the car to another enthusiast in less than a week at a decent price despite there having been lots of other comparable cars up that didn't appear to be enthusiast owned or had **** adverts.

If people can't be arsed to read 2-3 minutes about a car they are likely to be owning for 2-3 years then they're probably not a serious buyer. Also, if the owner can't be arsed to write a proper review then it says to me they probably couldn't be arsed to look after their car properly.

There is writing a review and then there is writing a review. Got a link to your ad so we can compare it then?

Clio 197 F1 Team 224/500 ‘57’ plate

I am reluctantly selling my Clio due to needing the extra cash for a house deposit. It has been faultless during my ownership and I will be very sad to see it go, however needs must.

It has done just over 75k miles (this will increase as it is my daily car) and has full service history (mixture of main dealers and Renault specialist). The cambelt service was done in December by SC Autoelectrics (SteC) including the aux belt, water pump, coolant, core plugs and camshaft seals. It has MOT and Tax until the end of November. The car has climate control and xenon lights from factory.

I am the second owner and I bought it at 51k miles in December 2011. The previous owner was a lady in her 60’s who sold it to fund her sewing business! It has over 6k miles until the next service is due, which is just an oil and filter change as the last service was the 5 year/72k mile one.

The car is in great condition throughout with only a few small imperfections. The Recaros are in great condition with only a tiny amount of fraying on the outer lower bolsters. The covers were replaced under warranty so they have the updated bolsters with extra foam to prevent wear.

The car has four matching Hankook V12 Ventus Evo tyres on. These are a great alternative to the standard Continentals with many owners rating the Hankooks higher. The front tyres have approximately 4mm of tread and the rears have approximately 5mm. The car currently has a Magnex exhaust installed although this can be removed should the next owner not want it.

In the last 500 miles I have changed the rear brake discs, the rear brake calipers, front and rear brake pads, the brake fluid and the caliper pins. The caliper pins were replaced with the upgraded pins that incorporate an R-Clip that prevents them seizing like the OEM Brembo pins are very prone to doing.
The car currently has a few very easily reversible exterior changes including black Renault badge covers, yellow Lamin-x on the fog lights, red Lamin-x on the rear lights and a gold Clio197.net sticker on the rear window.

I have a folder full of documents including service documents, MOT certificates and receipts of everything I have ever bought for the car. I have both of the key cards and all of the handbooks and assorted documents and leaflets that came with the car. The car was recently put on a rolling road and made exactly 197bhp (on SC Autoelectrics).

Bad points:

The front does have a few stone chips although you cannot notice them unless you look closely. There are three parking dings, two on the passenger side and one on the driver’s side (despite my best efforts to never park next to another car and constant grief from my girlfriend about parking at the furthest space from the door when we go shopping!!!) These are only 5p sized and you won’t notice them unless you look down the side of the car. The wheels have slight pitting and a few stone chips but no curbing whatsoever.

Again, I really don’t want to have to sell this car but I know that whoever buys it will be extremely happy with it. The car is located in Thornton near Blackpool but I work in Preston during the day. I would be willing to travel a short distance to meet any prospective buyer.

I'm really into my Renaultsports so that's a little odd, but that's a good advert in my opinion.

I believe that my adverts are long winded at times, my previous Punto that I sold had 600 words and it sold for just over £600.. It only takes 20 minutes to write a long winded advert for someone to get as much information about your car as possible.

I have snipped down the advert so it's easier on the eyes and shorter to read.

Personally I'd have said that was to full on, but you had the advantage of selling a car which people readily want, and which are not in a readily available supply.

There's not that much demand for hot hatchbacks that get 26mpg! It's definitely a buyers market for 197/200s at the moment. The lacklustre reviews of the 200T will probably sure the prices up ever so slightly though with there being less owners 'upgrading' than there might otherwise have been.
