Right, someone must have done this by now, given the availability of 16v engines from other models in the Fiat range...

Who's swapped a 1.1 or 1.2 8v out of a panda, in favour of a 1.2 or 1.4 16v, or bigger?

Are the 8v and 16v mounts the same?
Does the 8v gearbox bolt up to the 16v engine?
Are the sensors the same? Can you use the standard 8v ECU, albeit remapped, to run the 16v engine?

Can't speak much about pandas re ecu specifics but I wouldn't have thought so need to stick with the fire(8v) or superfire engine (1.2 16v/1.4 16v) mounts holes are the same gearboxes bolt up fine flywheels are 20mm bigger on 16v. I would stick 1.4 8v from the grande punto in yours just for ease as I'm sure the ecu would be fine would mount up fine sensor all the same place. Insurance would be easier than 16v and in general less hassle.youd get 75bhp as standard I'm sure you'd get a bit more with a bigger tb and other bits

It's been done a fair few times in Centos. I'd avoid the 1.4 8v: power increase is pathetic, all the Polish conversion to Cinqs seem to have gone bang.

1.2 16v will give more go, 1.4 16v more still. The Idea uses the 5 speed box with the 1.4 16v.
