General Rooflessdriver's 100HP

Took my 100HP in for its MOT today and having had some advisories when it was serviced, (see below) I wasn't hopeful.

Got 3 advisories from Crawley Down Group
1. Front headlamp mounting bracket broken (deer incident) (£99.60)
2. Cut in drive side front tyre down to cord (£96.60)
3. Ns lower arm ball joint split (£262.82)

I replaced the tyre and did a plastic weld job on the headlight bracket, so only the ball joint.
I bought the parts and had a look myself but couldn't find anything wrong.
Told the guy at MOT garage who I know and he said if it fails on it, they will fit the parts for me.

Surprise surprise, nothing wrong at all. Just a service centre trying to get extra money.

Good news is, the car past with just an advisory on rear tyres wearing on the insides. :)

Did a 600 mile round trip to Manchester and back at the weekend, 4 up and a boot full of luggage.
The 100HP was falutless all the way, cruising at motorway speeds, (ahem), and over 2 1/2 tanks of petrol averaged 36.8mpg.

Must admit though starting to think I need more power!

Next stage of my 100HP sound system started this afternoon!
Fitted this bad boy in the boot.

Started getting dark so not fully wired in yet, but pleased with the fit so far.

wow, that looks smart! is it all wired as well?
Comes with very comprehensive loom and and wired remote control.

Hoping to get it all wired in this coming Sat.
Just need to route the power cables & RCA lead to the head unit.

Thinking of taking passenger seat out and pull carpet from one side.

Nice one Demi!
How long did it take to strip car out like that?!

Front seats, seconds... :D Rear seats couple of minutes as the are a little tricky (bolts in the mid section and then u need to split them)

Trims not hard but u have to take ur time to find the clips locations so u can apply pressure in the right places or u will brake them. I'd say about an hour to stip by urself ( I did use impact drill with screw and allen attachments, much faster )

Would you say it was made easier by listening to Aerosmith whilst doing the work?

All wired up and pumping!

Think I need to spend some time tuning it tomorrow though.
Really surprised on how much thump it can kick out, (not that I want window shaking bass).

Sat in the back with the remote control playing with the Gain and at just under half mark you can feel it in the back of the chair!

Need to read up now on setting it up. Got the head unit and remote currently set at 50hz frequency which seems ok.

Bit more playing with the sub in the boot this eve and made a simple but major improvement.
If you look at the picture, you can just make out the ports are at the bootlid end of the sub.

Turned it 180 degrees so they point into the car and added one of the supplied foam rings between the unit and the spare wheel to raise it up.

Now more "feel" without increased boominess.

I left evanescence playing at around 15 on JVC head unit and got out to see how loud it was from outside.
Surprisingly not ott, but could feel the windows n door panels moving.

My jack & tools are in a bag that velcros onto the boot carpet.
Assumed this was standard?

Although having flipped the spare wheel over, (outer face downwards), I suppose the bag could have sat inside the spare.

If its a sub, I thought the Bass was non directional ??

My thinking was if it's a ported sub, it would be better to have the ports facing into the car for the air being moved to be directed inwards so it's 'felt'?

I'm new to this ICE stuff so open to advice.
Sitting at the train station this morning, I started playing with the High Pass Filter setting for the front n rear Alpines.

Put HPF at 80 and LPF for Sub at 50.

I really need to find somewhere remote where it's not quite so anti social to tweak!

First major issue with my 100HP this week.
Come back off holiday and leaving Gatwick airport Longstay car park, the car died in the outside lane of the A23 pulling away from a set of traffic lights.

CEL was on and it wouldn't turn over. had to jump out and push the car across two lanes of traffic and up onto the pavement.
AA turned up really promptly and diagnosed Crank shaft Sensor circuit malfunction, so towed me home.

Local Fiat Parts department want £67+vat for a new sensor and would be a few days.
Motor factors shop in Horsham got one in by 4pm for £37+vat.

So Saturday morning car on axle stands and had a go at replacing it.
After shearing two bolts on the under tray that the Fiat garage had cross threaded when they did the last service/oil change (Grrrrr) found out it wasn't the Crank Sensor after all.

The wires were out of the retainer clip and had melted on the engine block.
Fortunately they were all still intact, so after wrapping them up and re securing, the car started first go.
