Hi all,

I bought my Panda at the end of last month from Walkers of Northallerton. A good two hours from my house but I was willing to travel to find the right car.

So far I really like it. Very chuckable and still returns fair mpg when it's being thrashed. I sold my Clio 197 F1 because I'm saving for a house deposit and the 26mpg I was getting commuting to work wasn't really sensible.

I've done a few small mods so far:

1) Uniroyal Rainsport 2s all round
2) Alpine head unit and amp, Kenwood underseat sub
3) Made sat nav and phone mounting places in the storage slot under the stereo
4) Silver indicator bulbs all round
5) Fiat OEM mats

To do:

1) The sub-£30 induction mod
2) Get the tracking done as it pulls slightly to the right
3) Fit some speakers. I bought some Alpine SXE-1725 that were described as 'direct fit'. They are direct fit in the same way that some size 12 boots are direct fit for a new born baby.
4) Get the windscreen replaced as I managed to put a big crack in it whilst either removing the windscreen wiper arms or the scuttle panel

I'm taking it to Curborough sprint course at the start of next month which I'm very excited about :slayer:

Nice.

1. How much were the Uniroyals?
2. Did you go for the 50 profile?
3. What made you choose those?

Cheers

£49.40 each plus delivery so £209.56 in total from Camskill. I'd post a link but I'm not allowed yet.

My parent's have them on their 5-Series and MX-5 Sport and I think they are an excellent all round tyre. Evo also did a tyre test a couple of years ago and the Rainsport 2 came top in the wet braking and wet subjective tests.

I stuck with the 45 profile. People say the 100hp has a harsh ride but having come from a Cliosport with a cup chassis the Panda is Rolls-Royce like in comparison so I saw no need to change the profiles.

HTH.

Quick update:

Yellow fogs, silver indicator bulbs and windscreen wiper arms wire brushed and a couple of coats of satin black paint. Much smarter!

I took the Panda sprinting yesterday to Curborough Sprint Track. I had a fantastic day and the Panda was pretty competitive. The whole day cost me £125 which was petrol, admission and lunch! I can't wait to go again as it's so addictive.

Here's a picture of the Panda with an Atom 300 (supercharged). I had a few passenger laps in that thing. You cannot comprehend just how fast it is until you've been in it. Holy ****! Total assault on the senses . The noise it makes high up the rev range reminds me of a Stuka.

My front brakes had been squeeling recently and also it didn't seem to brake in a straight line. It had been getting worse so I decided I was going to strip them down, clean them and paint them. It's a relatively straightforward job with the only hiccup being on the rears where the bolts that hold the caliper holder had rusted off so I had to paint the 'surround bar' in-situ. After I'd put everything back together I bled the brakes.

I now have effective brakes and red calipers. IMO it has really improved the look of the car.
