General Thinking of buying the panda 1.3 multijet

It's a high mileage car, but the price reflects that and it's got a few options too. If there's a proper service history & it's in good order, I'd say it's good value & would certainly be worth seeing before someone else beats you to it.

Actually looking more closely that picture is I think an Eleganza as the Dynamic never had fog lights, electric mirrors or roof rails. If so, it won't be £30 tax, but a very good buy nonetheless as the Eleganza has all the toys and book value will be about £600 more.

Check the V5C. If the dealer has made a mistake you could grab yourself a bargain.

You could buy all those as optional extras. Hence my Dynamic has front fogs and roof rails. They came as part of the skydome pack. Was not allowed the electric mirrors in my order though. They said I'd also have to order aircon but living in Belfast, I didn't reckon there was much need for that!

Out of interest, when did you buy your Dynamic?

My 2010 has A/C as standard; IIRC the skydome pack had been discontinued by then and you certainly couldn't get electric mirrors without buying the Eleganza. Of course, the car in the link may not have power mirrors, even though it's described as having them.

Whatever, that car looks a decent buy, on paper at least.

I ordered it in February 2005 and took delivery at the end of May (one of the first Multijets in Northern Ireland). I had test-driven all the other versions available at the time (1.1, 1.2 & 4x4) but decided to wait on the Multijet coming available before buying. Ideally I wanted a diesel 4x4, but the Cross wasn't going to become available soon enough for me... As a consolation to myself for the lack of 4x4, I bought a set of 13 inch 8-spoke Fiat alloys (personally I didn't like the 14 inch 6-spoke ones) and bought winter tyres for the steelies. Must say I enjoyed the test-driving though.

My optional extras ordered were the Skydome Pack (including side rubbing strips, roof rails and front fogs), the sliding rear seat (which included iso-fix which wasn't originally on the bench seat iirc), side and window airbags, height adjustable drivers seat and height adjustable front seat belts. The sliding rear seat is probably the most useful of all that lot. It's good to have the ability to increase the boot capacity and without it, I'd probably have needed a bigger car to fit double pram in the boot as my two were too close in age to have done without one...

My 1.2 Dynamic Eco 2009 (£30 tax) has aircon, roof bars (which I added) but at 16,816 has a book trade in value of 3,200 and an autotrader private sale guide price of 3,700 according to the website.
This week I was looking to change at an independent dealer and got offered 3,150. He said that people expect Panda's to be low mileage (which as city cars makes sense) and stocks accordingly.
The Autotrader example shown looks a bargain for the features but 44k on an 11plate is high and could account for the price?
If I was going to sell mine privately I'd be chuffed to bits with £3,500 but in reality I don't want the hassle of it and will part exchange for the book price.
I'm not unhappy with my present car, just a little bored and after a test drive in a 100HP Panda the monetary argument is losing against the thrill of the drive. ;)

It's not an Eleganza as it clearly doesn't have climate control. From my browsing, all the 2011 > Panda Dynamics have roof rails, double-DIN stereo and alloys but only aircon. There are stacks of this model on autotrader with big miles on at the moment.

If you search autotrader filtering on later 2011/2012 Dynamics (not ECO) they will have the big door mirrors and all the goodies except climate. These to me are the best value of the 1.2 Mk3 Pandas.

If anyone lives near Bristol there's a 2011 'MyLife' model coming up at Mannheim today!

Diesel - better pulling up motorway hills - not an issue if mostly city-bound. 60 mpg and cheap tax. But - you need to row it along with the gear lever, higher servicing costs, dead handling, eats front tyres.

1.2. 50 mpg, better feel to steering.

My wife had a MJ when she was doing a 40-odd mile daily commute - a really good, honest little car that just justified the higher price (bought new) and (non-fuel) costs from fuel savings; now she does far fewer miles her 1.2 is a better bet.

Big difference in the two prices! I must admit that I hate silver cars though. Silver is just wrong for the Panda.
