Just been to look at a 53 1108 car, 70000 miles, owner said she had a new clutch and gearbox 18 months ago.

As we're looking at others with similar mileage I wondered if it's a common thing to need a gearbox by this sort of mileage.

Thanks

I'm on 99,000 miles (2004, 1.2 8v) still on the original gearbox (which works perfectly). The first clutch was replaced at 75k because it was increasingly difficult to engage certain gears.

I would say premature wear is down to the way the car has been driven.

I've had 2 Pandas, one previously was on 100k and my current one 80k, both have never had problems with the gearbox. I would assume the same as MEP, more than likely forced and crunched in if the clutch was failing.

My 2005 Multijet has just had its first clutch change at 114k miles, with original gearbox.
