Also got quoted 200 to swap Cambelt and water pump I've got 25000 on the clock

Hmmm.. HID lamps in new cars are fine -- they have projector lights to be sure the beam is precisely the correct shape to minimise glare, fully self levelling systems to maintain the light at the correct height, and headlight washers (all these things are required by legislation if you have HID lights). Adding HID 'bulbs' to light units designed for halogen tends not to work -- although a lot more light comes out, it goes all over the place, reulting in poor lighting for you as a driver, and lots of dazzle for everyone else.

For a bit of background, read this, from a supplier of HID lights, but the material comes from VOSA (the body that carries out MOT tests). Basically, after-market HID is likely to lead to MOT fail... http://www.phoenixautobulbs.co.uk/tp/hid-kits-new-legislation-2012

So you think it's acceptable to knowingly drive an unroadworthy, uninsured car that could blindingly dazzle an innocent driver, potentially causing a fatal accident?

After what you have posted, if stopped by the police you deserve to have the car impounded, crushed, given a hefty fine + costs and a year's disqualification for driving whilst uninsured.

I Have hids in mine and have no issues but I have got flyeye kit on my headlights so that might help maybe look it up looks good by darkening the lights might go with the carbon theme and might help with the scatter coz mines is fine.

What so its ok to put other things on the car noisy exhaust that annoy people etc I'm not saying it right what I'm doing but I guess you must be perfect and you don't do anything wroung

Are you saying you are running around with void insrance due to having a wrap on the car or have I read it wrong?

IMO I also think the lights are a bit much. I can't imagine the fog lights are going to be much use in the fog. Prepaps the money would have been better spent on some Osram Night breakers and some Silvervisions. But again that's only my opinion;)

Very foolish move, let hope no workers for the insurance company you're insured with see this, number plate DY58 XWW on display also. I don't suppose you happen to have £20million in your back pocket to pay out damage to other peoples property you may cause, and an unlimited amount for injury when you insurance decide to void your policy in the event of a fatal claim. Stupid idiot really doesn't sum this up enough.

Yes, you have highlighted the wrongs but do you have to go on about it and make it personal to? I dont get it...! Is it to try and drive new members off this forum, the ones you dont like? :bang:

Instead of helping new comer I guess its easier to just attack him.

What would you have us do?

The OP has made it clear they're fully aware they've modified their car illegally and knowingly voided their insurance, but intend to carry on regardless and hope to 'bluff' their way out of it if caught.

I don't want to discourage new members, but IMO supporting this kind of behaviour sends the wrong message to anyone else reading this who might be thinking along similar lines.

MEP has worked in the insurance industry and is more knowledgeable than most about the potential consequences of knowingly modifying a car after being told the modifications would void the policy. His comments may not have been the most tactful, but his input on this is valuable and anyone following this thread would do well to note how an insurance company might regard the OP's actions.

Sounds like Handbags at Dawn to me. But if a forum member chooses to act illegally and irresponsibly that's up to them.
We can all think he's a Dick, but we mustn't say that.
I think we should give the right advice and hope he takes it. Forums are for that after all.
However, in this case where insurance is now invalid and the forum member doesn't appear too bothered it might not be such a bad idea to inform the local constabulary who will know exactly what to do.
I'd be a bit annoyed if he were to wreck my car or life or that of anyone I know and have no means of compensation for that loss.
What a tit

Now, thats how it should ve been put across to avoid all the un-pleasantries. I agree with the above. But theres a difference between advising ppl and telling them off. I'd hate to see MEP starting another troll fest on FF. Would be nice to have more constructive criticisms rather than straight out insults. (y)

I know where you are coming from but some of the people thinking they are whiter than white really is laughable. How many of you haven't went over the speed limit or done something you know you shouldnt on the road pretty much everyone at somepoint is my guess.

Maybe, maybe not.
Pretty sure I didn't take pictures of me doing it and show them to the internet though.

You may break the speed limit occasionally, like you say we all do, but that's not going to invalidate your insurance and potentially cause someone massive financial loss.

I may not have been tactful in the way I posted, but most regulars will know its how I normally post and that its nothing against just the OP because they're new. My response would have been similar for anyone else.

Just making clear how serious what the OP is doing really is as its not dissimilar to going out drink or drug driving, or just plan driving without insurance, such a blasé attitude which is clearly anti social don't really warrant a tip toe around response really. We're all grown ups.
