Technical new Panda 1.2 engine

My Panda is a 2006 1.2, with throttle cable, so hopefully is the same as yours.
Pic009 is looking straight at it from the front of the car.
Pic010 is looking from the driver's side of the car, top connector is presumably throttle position sensor, not sure what the lower one is to its right.
Pic011 is looking from the opposite side, connector is to the MAP sensor I believe.
Pic012 is a close-up of the MAP. Pic is upside down to give a good view of the numbers.
Pic013 is looking down onto the MAP, also showing the blue pipe and a connector behind that, which presumably operates the purge of the charcoal canister. (Fuel tank breather system)

Hope this helps. If you need more info, post here or PM me.

Hi

Many thanks for the photos - its appreciated. - they are a useful point of reference for me.

I have attached here a photo of a plug that seems to have no where to go- it seems to be shortened using a cable tie type item, and looks like its always been that way i.e from new - does this look familiar to you at all? its down behind the throttle body area. All other plugs are accounted for....

Many thanks again

Gary

That took a few moments to identify the picture. With aircon pipes, mine is a little different there. Deep in a dark area, between the two gearchange cables is a 3-pin connector, tied back, doing nothing. Mine has a red seal, as opposed to your yellow one, and is 7 years dirty, but I think we're looking at the same thing.

Mine's been tied back from new, never been connected to anything by its appearance. So the mystery remains, but I think the worry is over. We can both just ignore it until moisture ingress interferes with something.

Hi

Many thanks for finding this out for me - its been a bit of a mystery up until now.

Should have all the remaining missing parts by the weekend so hopefully it will be all systems go - save the heater fan which simply refuses to work

Thanks again

Hi All

Panda engine running smoothly now, although I have some potential ECU? faults to deal with - maybe someone has experienced the same? I will try to explain them here;

I turn the key to the pre-start position all the warning lights come on and the fuel and temp gauges register. Then I start the engine. After starting the engine, sometimes immediatley the gauges will drop back to zero, the warning lights will come on again, but then will go out and the gauges will go back to reading correctly again ( sometimes the temp gauge goes all the way to the top before returning to 'normal'. All this happens whilst the engine is still running.

Also if I stop the engine and restart it I find that the time clock has reset itself to flashing zero (0:00)

In addition the ABS and Handbrake warning lights stay on - I have checked the fliuid level and its OK - I guess there will be some 'teething probelms' after 7 years in a shed......

Any ideas welcome - and, as always appreciated.

Many thanks

Gary

These faults are often associated with a failing battery. Is this an old one or new for the rebuild? Is it charged fully?

If battery ok, check ALL connections, especially battery main and earth, including earth to body and gearbox. Check connector to ECU, make sure all the pins are clean and making good contact. Check the connections on the instrument display, especially the earth path.

Lots of checking and fiddling, but probably not a major fault, just time, rather than expense.

Hi

Many thanks for the advice - its not a new battery, so perhaps that will cure it... I will let you know.

Thanks again

Gary
