Technical 100hp Induction mod for under £30!

Installed this last night. It was even easier that I thought! 5 minutes start to finish. I used a Stanley knife to cut the pipe. I didn't do it quite as neatly as Cooperman but I wasn't far off.

Initial impressions are good, sounds much better 4000rpm onwards. I bet you could make the sound even better again by replacing the the pipe after the filter with a similar setup.

Installed, a ten minute job.. looks good, unlike the rest of the engine bay. Yet to test.

Here's mine!

Was in the car the other day on the phone and was asked what the noise was by the caller....

I'm sure I've got a box of old pipes in the garage which I got from a neighbour some time ago, I've nothing to do today so may give this a go :). As I'm an older member of this community though, if it's too loud I'll be changing it back :p

I got some pictures of the induction mod now I've fitted it.

Here they are (sorry about the slightly crap picture quality, the only camera I own is the one on my phone):

Looks really good dude!! I sooo pleased how well this mod as been received!! :D
Cheers mate :)! It sounds amazing, a lovely deep growly noise...not sure my average of 37MPG will be staying that high for long :p!! I have no idea if the mod improves power or torque, it's been so hot there past few days that it's impossible to measure engine performance with thin air and the A/C on full blast.
I'm off back to Uni at the start of August so hopefully it's cooled down by then and I can give the Panda a good blast up the M18 :D.

Have had the bits for a week, finally got a few mins to fit them today, easy enough, not driven it yet though!

New top connection pipe done!! Cost came out at around £50 as I had to buy another little pipe to connect the breather to the T-piece.
Hasn't made much difference to intake noise or performance but love the way it looks with the intake pipe.
Wont do a how do guild as it involved alot more cutting and shaping to get it to fit and I cant really remember what sizes I trimmed the pipes to! :(

I'm about to order the bits just slight confused... Is there an "induction kit air filter" involved or is it just pipe work and the standard air filter used?
If so where does the extra noise come from?

There's no filter as such, unless you fit an aftermarket panel filter, from my understanding the extra mouldings on the standard pipe reduce the induction noise,so doing away with them alters the induction sound,HTH.

:yeahthat:
Thats pretty much what it is, you can run the standard filter no worries and the induction noise comes from removing the standard pipe with all its baffles on it to reduce the induction noise.

Is there any advantage to using a different air filter to the standard Fiat OEM fitment hen?

Been 27 years since I did anything like ths and that was a k&n filter and janspeed exhaust on my MkI Fiesta. Made a lovely noise and decent power increase. Does a free flow air filter make any difference on a modern ECU controlled engine, or does it need remapping?
