Hello all,
My wife is a recent proud Fiat Panda owner - she bought a '08 Dynamic with the semi-automatic gearbox from a private seller. We checked the car's credentials via online vehicle checker and all came back ok, it has done 26k.
Of course, a week after buying it, we run into problems. Now if it's sod's law or the seller 'passed it on' we have no sure way of knowing (he would have told us if there was a problem, or not)
The problem - driving along and it jumps into neutral and the 'N' light on the dash contantly beeps. This seems to happen when braking/slowing down, and intermittently if frequently. When it happens there is a 'k'chik k'chik' noise in the front when restarted and trying to engage gears. it takes up to ten restarts to sort it self out, usually better if turned off for a while. Then it solves itself and off it goes until next time. Very annoying not mention dangerous.
Hylton Fiat quoted £89 plus vat to do diagnostics, local mechanic quoted £45
We threw all our savings into this car as a way into new employment, and didn't expect to encounter such a blow with such low mileage and a vehicle check, so worried about a 'see if this works' endless repair bill...:bang:
ANY info appreciated, what would you do? Is the warranty on these boxes really only three years?
